Derwent Dam - Added to Areas of Outstanding Natural Beauty in East Midlands

Correct, you can legally fly in that airspace (TOL a different issue) but as it’s often used by low flying, fast aircraft, it is not safe to do so.

Looks live they have removed it from their FAQ page, just emailed them to see if there is an update.

Did you email them twice?

The reply
Dear Keith

Thank you for contacting the Peak District National Park Authority.

The page is currently being reviewed and has been taken down for now. Our Communications Manager replied recently to another enquirer with the information below, if that is of any help to you.

“Any use of drone within the National Park should only take place in accordance with the latest legislation and CAA guidance; in particular with reference to securing relevant landowner permission for Take Off & Landing Positions away from public land. The Authority does not currently support private or commercial TOLP anywhere on our landholdings from March-September, primarily due to site designations and requirements under the Wildlife & Countryside in respect of disturbance to at-risk species. Some sites such as operational reservoirs in the Upper Derwent Valley may also have additional restrictions due to aerial flight paths. We would strongly recommend approaching landowners – such as the National Trust, RSPB, private estates if you intend to undertake flight paths within their landholdings. Some areas may have on-site signage where drones are not permitted or indeed allowed for incidental use. Due to GDPR restrictions, we are unfortunately not able to share land ownership maps for the Peak District.

If you know of the proposed sites that you wish to undertake flights, we may be able to provide brief confirmation of the landowner – where GDPR restrictions allow. We currently do not have capacity to respond to detailed or exhaustive lists and would then recommend basing your planning around the above advice.”

Yours sincerely

Err, what, at what point ever would telling you who the land owner is be considered as ‘brief confirmation’

It’s either confirmation or it’s not.

Her reply was however polite, which was the main thing and in not as many words admitting they can’t stop you overflying from public land.
