I am going Turkey in a week & have the same issue, very confusing info, I have tried reading up but seem to be getting more confused. I would love to take it just in case but don’t really want any problems.
I know the last thing I want is my drone taken off me. From what I’ve read everything is quite straightforward although I believe there is some issues with the airlines to do with spare batteries and how many you can carry I believe it’s only two per person but again that’s easily avoidable. If I do go ahead, I plan to buy some of the fire retardant bags. You can get for the batteries. If you do go ahead, let me know as I’m not going for another few months.
I’m not so worried about the airlines, more things on the Turkey side. I do believe airlines have a limit on powerbank size & total batteries allowed but a few drone batteries should be ok. I have been to Crete before with 3 drone batteries & 3 camera batteries & nothing was said at the airport, I just carried them on.
I’d be happy to take just 1 battery anyway as I don’t think my wife would be too happy with me leaving her for hours at a time droning. It’s a shame there isn’t a one stop place for info regarding rules. I’ll let you know if I decided to take it & how I got on.
Well I’m here, no issues taking drone through Liverpool or into Antalya, just had it in a shoulder camera bag, took out controller & put with tablets & phones through security.
I’ve not flown yet, but thinking of doing so on a trip to a beach later, today. One thing I’ve really struggled with is finding out where the restricted airspace is, from all the info I’ve read under 500g don’t have any restrictions other than the usual airports & military bases. We are very lucky in the UK to have all that info readily available to us.
I will be taking my Mini 4 pro to Sweden next week via Manchester. Can I keep this in the original bag with all 3 batteries?
You should be fine, some people use special bags in case the catch fire (forget the name) & tape up connectors on batteries etc. I wouldn’t be worried at all though.
Thanks for that, I used to have that app but I got rid for some reason. I didn’t manage to fly the other day (few too many vodka & coke instead) but will have a look how close I am to those areas now.
I did take drone up for a few minutes but couldn’t relax because it was next to a busy road & it was windier than it had been all week. On the way back through Antalya airport there was extra security checks & I didn’t have any issues with having a drone on me.
Ok
sounds like it’s worth a go then, cheers
Hope you get on well, look forward to seeing some pictures
Hello, I’m both a new member to GADC and new to drone flight in general. I’m visiting Turkey in September and was considering taking my new Potensic Atom with me . I’ve tried getting information regarding the Turkish authorities stance regarding bringing drones into their country but I’m coming up blanks . The information I’ve gleaned so far is certainly not clear and at times hypocritical. There seems to be a system in place regarding sub 500g drones but as I said it appears unclear as to whether I can legally take my drone into Turkey. Anyone had experience of taking a drone there or any things to look out for or is it a plain no no .
Regards Terry

If your drone is under 500g then there are no problems of taking your drone to Türkiye. No paperwork, just1 pack and go. ![]()
Thanks for the advice , I’m not100% sure if I’ll take it as I’m still very much a novice at this .
