Barlings Abbey - Lincolnshire

Just outside Lincoln. Set deep in the heart of the countryside, and not that easy to find. Also, if you do go to find it, watch out for cattle in the field. Not there today, but obviously have been recently… A ruin and not much left sadly. It was founded in 1154, and surprisingly, there were 6 monasteries within the 10 mile stretch of the river Witham - it must have been a busy place. Anyway, a very enjoyable day out exploring the Lincolnshire countryside, on a gorgeous hot day.
