Baxter Park, Dundee - Added to Parks and Recreation in Scotland

I have just added this to the map of places to fly your drone at Drone Scene:

Land owner permission not required.

No restrictions or permissions. Baxter Park is a large 38 acre popular city centred site TOAL was early in the morning, during the working week, with only a few people about. parking is easy on all 4 sides of the park and is free, just be respectful of local residents parking. Morgan Academy lies very nearby, so access can be tight during school hours, other than that it’s easy parking year round.

The originator declared that this location was not inside a Flight Restriction Zone at the time of being flown on 29/01/2025. It remains the responsibility of any pilot to check for any changes before flying at the same location.

This information is a little bit wrong, Dundee is quite strict compared to other places.

You require permission from Dundee Council - Parks and Open Spaces.

Under Dundee City Council > Parks and Environment > Management Rules;
7. Motor Vehicles
The following acts are prohibited unless the Council’s written permission has been
obtained first:

  • 7.2 Launch or land powered water craft or air craft or use a powered, remote controlled
    plane or drone

If you get in trouble you can face a fine of up to ÂŁ200.

Not worth the paper its written on

Oh and its states

  • 2. Summary
Any person who appears to be breaking, has broken or is about
to break any of the following rules may be asked by a Council
Official to leave the Open Space. Any person refusing to leave
will be guilty of an offence and liable on summary conviction,
    to a fine.
2.1 Any written permission required by these Rules must be
shown on request to a Council Official.
2.2 The Council may decide to waive any Rule at any time.

Is the bridge shown in your film over THE RIVER TAY? please.

Liked it - thanks.

Hi, The bridge is over the Firth of tay, whereas the River Tay, actually starts in the West Coast at Ben Lui, and goes all the way over to the East Coast at Dundee. Glad you liked it. Thanks.

Thanks for this. To be fair, I should’ve really done more research before hand, regardless of of how early and quiet mid week it was. Thanks for this, I’ll learn from this mistake. Thanks again.

Thanks for this, although I should’ve done more research before hand your advice is still good to know. I definitely won’t be making this mistake again in the future. Thanks again.

I emailed them about drone flying and they are possibly giving me the permissions for go ahead.
can find their email in same link provided above.

Just stating you would like to fly in Dundees Parks and Open Spaces.

With what Sparky has said you could fly but might be asked to leave, if you don’t leave then you could face some troubles.

It’s the same as anywhere as long as it not near an airport or prison or in any other FRZ

Just go and fly and if some nobody says you can’t just pack up and leave
