I have Windfinder pro, it doesn’t give tide times & heights, it does however give wave height. Not only does it give a fairly reasonable forecast but also real-time weather from hundreds of weather stations around the British isles, not just coastal stations. It is my go to app, before I look out the window. And it’s really aimed at kite surfers.
That’s odd, you’d expect Pro to have all the basic features and the extras on top! The tide information is useful because it saves having to look up tide tables.
I agree it’s a good app as a general weather informant, easy to use, and visually pleasant and informative. Anybody know what the blue/green lines of different lengths underneath the times & wind speeds mean? I think of it as a coastal app, but of course kite surfers use inland reservoirs & lakes as well!
The coloured bars refer to wave height & suitability for kite surfing green is good ( ie good wind strength & wave height), blue is a bit tame (best conditions for drone flying), turning twds yellowish, amber red as wind strength increases from experts only to positively dangerous. I think your confusing wave height for tide height.
You clearly have clocked up more hours looking at various Apps related to the weather than actual flying ones.
Thanks for that, mystery solved!
I’ve probably spent more time on this forum than flying the drone, especially with recent weather! I don’t think I’m confusing wave & tide heights; wave height is the 5th column and tide height is the 6th
It was dry but windy here on Sunday but had to get out and give the phantom 2 a quick go .
And sure enough it was a quick go. Just a few minutes into flight I decided it was too windy and brought it down about three feet from the ground it was near on its side fighting the wind . Funny sight I can tell you so now I know what’s to windy now .
New(ish) replacement batter for mine arrived this morning.
It will have been a couple of years since it last flew.
Your have a great time bet your looking forward to it .the fun is still there even after a few years
Full ATTI mode and doing flips.
Sorry I stand corrected, it’s because I have mine set to a land based station ie; an airport. The closest station to my house < 1/2 mile away. Ergo no tides. When I change it to a shore/offshore station it does indeed give me tide height.
Yesterday - light cloud, light winds - rain in 2 hours - good to go - set off in the car, and within 5 minutes chucking it down with rain… no forecast said it would rain - till after it started… BUT rain stopped 10 minutes later, and all was good… Today (June 3) blowing a gale, and raining… an edit day I feel…
Better to be warm and wet than cold and wet
Moist some might say
Fingers, toes, legs, arms, eyes, bollocks, and anything else crossable crossed, it actually looks as if I might get some flying in this evening and reasonable light for filming, first outing for 3 weeks! Plan is to go over to Penarth; the Waverley is calling at 21.00!
Now, just sit back and watch the weather deteriorate over the next few hours. Again…

Rooftop, proper air temp, 24.5°C
Garden shade temp, 29.1°C
Amazing the amount of difference an enclosed space and too much concrete can create.
The airport weather station (600m away) confirms my rooftop weather station to be pretty accurate for the proper air temp.
Amber warning issued by the Met office, between 8 pm this evening and 5 am tomorrow morning.
TLDR; Expect Thor style thunder, hooge hail stones and 30mm of rain in 3 hours.
Batts on charge ready then
