> We are asking for members of the public to assist with the ongoing operation to tackle the wildfires within the Cairngorms by ensuring unmanned aerial vehicles are not piloted in areas currently restricted for public access.

> As part of the multi-agency response, significant water-bombing of areas affected by the fires is being regularly undertaken by helicopters and other vehicles within this airspace may interfere with their operations.

> While no air restrictions have been implemented by the Civil Aviation Authority at this time, the public are asked not to fly personal drones and similar vehicles within the air space between East of Coylumbridge, South of Nethybridge, West of Tomintoul, North of Glen Avon and Cairngorm Mountain until further notice.

> Inspector Douglas Livitt said: "We understand the significant public interest in this ongoing incident and the desire for some to obtain detailed imagery of the current situation, however, in order to ensure that helicopter operations are not stalled or hampered, please refrain from flying unmanned aerial vehicles in the area for the time being.

> "This remains a dynamic situation with a significant level of resource from a variety of agencies and we are all committed to returning the affected area to normality as soon as possible.

I’d rather they put in a temporary restriction than rely on Faceache and word-of-mouth… but in lieu of that, I’ll give the word-of-mouth a bit of help.
