when i used my iPhone and dji go 4 i calibrated the compass by rotating the drone but with this new smart remote it doesn’t seem to require you to touch the drone its all done via the remote or am i missing something,

Cannot see how compass can be calibrated without rotating it (the drone) across vertical and horizontal axis .

Whilst I accept that you should be able to recalibrate the compass from the SmartRemote, don’t forget that should you feel you need to recalibrate the compass you can always use the normal RC and a phone to do it.

3 dots icon on the upper right part of your screen
press that. And you will see the main controller settings. It’s like a drone icon.
Press that.
you will you see sensors
Press it.
then you will see the IMU and compass.
my confusion is i was looking to calibrate drone but all i could find in the manual was page 19 how to calibrate compass but that was for smart remote not the mavic.
So - identical to normal, then.

Wonder if the compass in the SC is better than the compass in the CS?
I hope so, the one in the CS is absolutely terrible 
@merlinflyer have you seen the option to calibrate the smart controller too.
I tried and it kept going (o)(o) up lol
