[Camera Drones] Breaking the speed limit - How fast is your drone? Find out on our leaderboard!

Or a wind so strong it’s being blown down wind FAR faster than its max flying speed upwind.

One day … this shall be tried! :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:

Just need a golf range to try it. The only place I can think of with nice high, and sometimes soft, netting! :+1:

You forgot ,the cherry picker to dig it out of the net Dave !

What they said.

Even with all the parameters maxed out the top I’ve got is 84kph (52.2mph).

I need to find a windier day and bigger field

No mate, custom firmware is the only way

Will atti mode override this?

Using the Mavic pro.

I wonder how this would pan out?

The MP has a speed record of 54mph, but I wonder what the max wind speed is that it’s able to maintain it’s position?

If that too is 54mph, then it would need a wind of >108mph before the speed limit could be beaten.

BUT … I doubt that it would maintain position in anything like that.

For a start … I’m guessing the max wind speed to maintain position would be far closer to the max speed in normal mode, rather than that in Sport mode.

Food for thought … :smiling_imp:

I’ve had the max tilt angle on M2P adjusted to pretty much max and even in 20mph winds couldnt hit 50mph.

It just throttled back and cant find any way to adjust the max speed (GPS).

Seems that anything over 45mph is just luck.

You need a gust rather than continous wind speed so it over speeds before the flight controller can throttle back.

Thinking of enabling ATTI so its limited only by max tilt angle.

Yup - agree to all that - not thinking of getting the wind to “help” … just to totally overpower the thing and make it go downwind like a rocket with sticks centralised. :smiling_imp:

Of course. the other thing is the rumour of ATTI being a switchable option on the M2P Enterprise … and perhaps this will roll out to other M2s, even if not the M1P.

Cant see them adding it to any of the consumer Mavics.

Easy enough to enable using parameter mods but you lose function of sport mode switch.

I tried it on my original MP and it did not really behave the way I expected it to. Was a little unstable a.d affected by wind much more than a P4 in ATTI.

So - it will have to be “catapult launch”!

I’m sure a suitable trajectory will give it time to gather its thoughts before hitting the deck all confused. :imp:

The logs will be interesting to read!

ATTI could be extended to the rest of the Mavic 2 range but I think it’s more of a “pro-user” setting so I’d be surprised if it made it to the general consumer DJI market.

And with the Mavic 1 being end of life for a while now, and no firmware updates since Sept 2018, I can’t see it reaching that range either.

We’ll just have to hope for that 108MPH wind

Remind me … how much are M2P Enterprise kits?

anyone who flys a light aircraft just tie it to the back
I took my Garmin on holiday and switched it on on the plane so if the boys in blue check my highest speed on it it says 550mph

A helicopter would be better … you could more easily get tracks that look more like those achievable by a drone.

next time my m8 takes me for a ride in his Gazelle i will hang my air below it lol
