Will i be able to fly at pendine outside of the M.O.D area but in the SSSI zone
Hi @Ricky1239 it looks as though you’re quite new here
Why not nip over to the Introductions page, and say hello properly and tell us a bit about yourself.
It looks like the airspace restriction boundary (red) extends far beyond the SSSI boundary (orange).
Please confirm I’m looking in the right place?
Hello yes that’s the right place! Does that mean with it being red its a no go?
Please contact Altitude Angel, the company who provide the app you’re using.
You can open a support ticket here:
Why do i need to contact them? Just need to know if i can fly in the SSSI area. I know some SSSI areas your able to fly but some you can’t during breeding or other thing’s
Sorry, I thought the screen shot was from their app, my bad
You can fly in SSSIs at any time, but need to be aware of the rquirements of nesting birds if that is the reason for the SSSI. Plants, however rare, are not much bothered by drones and neither is geology. Yellow areas on Altitude Angel-based maps denote hazards or situations that you need to be aware and mindful of, they are not Flight Restriction Zones.
Pendine sands is, however, subject to a military FRZ which overlays the SSSI, and red trumps yellow on Altitude Angel-based maps (Drone Scene, Drone Assist). You would need to find out the details of the restriction by clicking on the red area on the map, which will bring up a window with the information, and details of how to obtain permission if that is available. Some of these firing ranges are not used at weekends and the restrictions may be relaxed, but you need to research this before flying!
Not forgetting to also check the forthcoming activities list for Pendine Sands via the QinetiQ website .. There’s more than flying that is carried out there.
