Can't open member videos

I did an update on my iMac, yesterday. I assume it’s connected, as I can no longer open any videos posted on the forum, because of some perceived security risk. When I try to open a video, it asks me to fill in a small text box with the letters shown. But the letters keep coming, there is no acceptance that I am not a security breach. I have no idea what to do now. I’m guessing deep within the bowels of my machine is the key to unlocking this tantrum. Does anyone know a fix?

If you go to www.youtube.com on your device browser, are you met with a big Google cookie / terms & conds acceptance screen that you need to agree to?

And/or when you go to www.youtube.com are you logged out of that web site? Do you need to log in to YouTube?

Just to be clear, do all this in the same browser - if you get redirected out of the browser and in to the YouTube app, back out and try again.

I’m wondering if it’s cookie related?

Other random thoughts…

Are YouTube having a blip today? Do they have a status page anywhere?

I’ve logged into YT no problem. I’ve checked for updates on my iMac, including one from Google. I’ve deleted cookies and cache data, but no change

I don’t think so as, having opened YT, I can view anything. It just seems to be something to do with the files on the GA website

I’ve been getting the same thing but without the box to even enter the letters :person_shrugging:

No issues on a samsung just opens as normal..
Just watched the one box version of the Dunham massey video
Then opened it in youtube from GADC.

Looking at your second image, YouTube say they have “detected unusual traffic from your computer”.

This might be a process of elimination type fix – bear with

Can you turn off WiFi on your mobile, so it’s using the mobile network rather than your home network. Then try viewing a video on your mobile?

Does that work?

That’ll rule in, or rule out, an issue with Google and your home broadband

Just from me, working fine on Mac Tahoe 26.3.1 on Brave and Safari

We had an issue similar in past, buggered if I can find it now.

Out of curiosity what are you using for your DNS server?, Try Googles own 8.8.8.8 or 8.8.4.4 see if that makes a difference?

Mine is working OK now so not sure what it was :person_shrugging:

Recently I’ve had similar Captcha type bollocks from Google.

Using my laptop for several Google accounts, I have to log out after using them so as not to accidentally use the incorrect one.

Their Captcha thing is a pain .. either one can’t even decipher the letters in the box .. or when they are easily read they claim what’s entered is incorrect.

I know you’ve used another browser and hate even saying iMac :face_with_peeking_eye::scream: but anyway is Safari main browser for this device if so try this which I found searching Uncheck "Prevent cross-site tracking in privacy settings.

Had a quick (ironic) Google for the Google fault… this any help?

Failing that, could try disabling Apple’s Private Relay?

Another thought - had a few issues at work of late because a load of ISPs (including BT) recently changed the way they assign IPs and route traffic. Don’t know if it’s affecting domestic customers, but you could try turning your router off for 30 minutes or so to see if you get a different IP assigned.

Imagine the kids horror ! Be like chopping off an arm

Oh, wait - I’m conflating my faults. The routing thing we had to reconfigure TLS on our proxy and it’s a change to commercial customers only. Turning off the router was to fix a problem my sister had with Netflix a few weeks back because PlusNet is dishing out IP addresses from a range geotagged to the US.

You could still try a router restart, but probably won’t help.

We have a terrible signal here, so I depend on the WiFi, but I tried it and it seemed to be trying to open it, but because of really poor signal I got the wheel of death, as opposed to the little text box asking me to spell a word. I’ve opened one video on my phone (with our WiFi) and it has played without issue, so that suggests it maybe something to do with the iMac

To be honest I’m a bit out of my depth with that one. What does that mean?

I’ve tried another video and it is now working, so Lord knows what caused that but it seems to be back to normal now!

Thank you for input one and all. With no clear reason, it appears to working normally now! I’ve done nothing to change it, so I’m clueless
