Compatible Android phone for mini 4K - Redmi Note 10 Pro

Hi everyone

I used to have a Mini 2 but sold it some years ago… I used my current phone with it. Redmi Note 10 Pro.
I was a regular contributor here when i had it… Now i have a different need for a drone.

I foolishly clicked buy on a whim…(a great deal for a Mini 4K) before checking it would work with my phone… yes i know. Broke my own rule there.
In the mean time I tried to install the Fly app and it refused saying the app was for an older OS. I tried the install from unknown sources trick but still no go.
I’m thinking i might have to return the drone… Or upgrade the phone which than makes it no great deal

Anyone have some ideas to try please… I’d go for a Mini 2 again but they’re dearer :flushed:

Many thanks in advance

It might just be the version of the DJI Fly app that’s the issue.

Latest version is linked in the following thread: DJI Fly - App updates and download links - #990 try that and see if that helps.

If it’s expecting an older OS version, it probably isn’t the latest version of the app?

As @stubbyd says, make sure you are sourcing the latest version of the correct app from that link he posted.

For Android, the app is no longer on the Google Play Store.

You will need to force the “unknown sources” install.

Thanks for the replies… appreciated

I opened the Fly download page on my pc and didn’t notice the option for iOS and Android… I just tried the android download… it popped up Unsafe do you want to continue anyway… I did and it went through these stages. but failed again.

Thanks for replying … not looking good is it (

Did you click the OK for install anyway?

wow …this is like ‘real time’!

yes i tried that :+1:t3:

And what happened?

i just got this pop up

I think your next step is to contact DJI support … because the latest build shouldn’t be demanding an older OS version.

Give them full details of the phone - make, model, model ID, Android version and build number (from the “About” in Settings).

Send them those screen grabs, too.

I doubt it will be an instant/quick solution, but who knows. They may know a work around.

I was just going to ask what version of Android you have, as I note the d/l page says from v7.0. So, if your phone is saying it’s for older then I presume you are running 15 as I just realised I haven’t d/l and installed to my phone.

I get the same errors..

So this is definitely a DJI thing where they need to update to work on Android 15 based phones. Which means, do as Dave suggests and it may nudge them a bit more, but I feel certain they will already be working on adapting it and we just need to be patient.

Thanks for the replies guys!

I’m on android 13… I’ll check with DJI and see what they say. Appreciate you help… I seem to remember FLY app 1.13.? worked with Mini 4K?

I guess you can only get the current version from DJI though.

Have a look on a site called APK Mirror. A great library of past DJI app APKs there. Used the site for DJI apps many times and trust the content.

Thanks OzoneVibe…

I looked on the forum for other dowloads and stumbled on this seemingly simple answer: below

  1. Please follow this path to turn off Google Play Protect options and test again:

Google Play — Profile — Play Protect — Setting — Turn off below two options — Re-install App and test again.

Well blown me down with a feather if it didn’t actually work!

I have decided to open the package now!

I also realised that I’d missed the “install anyway” so went back and did it again. App works fine but haven’t yet tested with the drone.

As Dave says - happy flying.

Thanks everyone for their patience!

The single drone battery and controller as nearly flat of charge… …

I have to remember what to do to connect up now, when they are all charged up.

Thanks again.
