Hi Paul. Great pictures and I hope you enjoyed flying your Mini 3 there.
I’m hoping to take my Mini 3 to Crete next month. What are the requirements to fly legally in Crete as I’ve seen a lot of confusing info.
Hi @Brogue.One and welcome to Grey Arrows.
This topic will be of use and interest to you: Flying in Greece
Hi there, we’ve been to many of the bays, mostly this time of year they are empty. No restrictions that I can advise, a few passers-by have been interested so I’ve shown them what I’m doing. I would not go over any historic buildings as this may be considered disrespectful. It’s a beautiful island with so much to see and “drone” you won’t be disappointed, weather wise we have only had a soft breeze and no rain. Look forward to seeing your footage.
Thanks for the info. Did you have to do anything other than obtain a flyer/operator ID from EASA? I’ve seen some info saying you need to file a flight plan everytime you fly and others saying it’s OK as long as you don’t exceed a certain distance and altitude.
We are back now, no issues with our flights over the coast, we didn’t fly inland at all. I read you have to get a license from the first EU country you visit but as Crete was the first… To get a licence /permit from Crete you have to have a Cretian national identity number which we don’t have. It’s very ambiguous so we did what we could and didn’t disturb anyone. It is a stunningly beautiful island, hope you have a good trip.
