Hi guys been out with my phantom 4 pro this afternoon to try out a set on new carbon props and all seemed fine until i tried to land it just wouldn’t come back down smoothly
i literally had to bring it down a meter at a time.has anyone else had this issue?
I can only comment coming from a fixed wing and Helicopter background. Carbon props can sharpen up the controller inputs. They hardly flex compared to plastic or reinforced blades. With my Helicopters I go from plastic, that’s nice. Carbon, oh! Shit I didn’t expect that. Simplistic I know.
Rather than coming straight down, descend on a slope. When coming straight down you are descending into the very unstable air of your own prop wash. As @Nismo says the stiffer the prop the less forgiving it is in very turbulent air. This is why you very rarely see a helicopter descend straight down but rather sweeps around to the landing spot. If it makes a straight down descent it’s very slowly.
Nidge.
Thanks for the reply guys I’ll give the sloped descent a go next time out see if it helps
