Yeah its looking more and more impressive as they develop it and it should continue to be developed as Caddx have all their eggs in the one basket unlike DJI where the FPV side of their business is a tiny portion of their total business and they dont really give a shit once people have spent their hard earned cash.

yeah if £200 it is silly. though an analog VTX that does 1.2W for under £40 in stock, you’d be lucky… Then a decent cam is around £40, so you’re looking at £80 I guess. A wasp is around £120 I think. Guess the o3 has onboard recording so whilst not as good as a gopro, be pretty damned good if same recording quality as an avata. I very much doubt will get an o3, but there are use cases. Also with the DJI ones if you use the RX, then that’s another £15/£20 for the RX saved. So a vista/wasp isn’t too bad when look at it that way. Was amazed at how much the Walksnail/HD Zero VTX cam combos were, did a little digging recently.
Actually just a quick look in Hobby RC so for cam and VTX for the digital systems (excluding whoops for this purpose)…
- DJI Vista/Neb Pro - £158.95
- DJI Wasp - £139.30
- Walksnail - £159.00
- HDZero VTX (£96.35) + Cam: Foxeer (£45.70) = £142.05
So actually… Walksnail most expensive, DJI cheapest with the wasp (if you fly 4:3 which I do, then that’s a great combo apparently)…
Well analog the cheapest of course, but looking at 80/90 for the “top” end Analog…
I paid £55 for a Rush Solo Tank which is supposed to be relatively highend and up to 2Watt output.
I think even with the high price the O3 unit will be popular, especially amongst the cinematic users. When you factor in the cost of a decent GoPro and required filters this 03 unit doesn’t seem too bad with respect to value. If it’s using the same imaging tech as the Avata I guess it will have the same real-time image stabilisation, which isn’t too shabby.

Hah. I also have owned 2 Rush Solo tanks. Neither work any more (OK the first one in likely in a river with the rest of the quad it was attached to…), and the second, well it just stopped working!
Yeah I think for the right market the onboard recording will be a bonus.
I was just surprised that ballpark all three digital systems are about the same price “per quad”. Up front costs will be different… I guess DJI doesn’t have an attachable VRX, and the other two around £200 I guess. Though “digital goggles” I believe DJI also the cheapest (and the V2 can attach an Analogue module). I just “assumed” DJI would be the most expensive for some reason… I was wrong!
Though saying that… The reason the quad ended up in a river was due to the video feed cutting out!! (Partly… My inexperience of returning a quad LOS after video failure.). So yeah was analogs problem that caused the video to drop out!!
The O3 is rumoured to have onboard 4K recording negating the need of an action cam/gopro (obviously this would depend on video quality) but that would save weight and money. I wouldnt consider this for a basher quad but for a long range cruiser or cinematic quad build I could see it potentially being worth the extra money
