Already thrown them in the bin and replaced with my own! Just in case ![]()
Only available on Insta360 and way too expensive right now, but an interesting concept and possibly future option with the A360 to be aware of. A kinda ābuild your own holo-deckā I turned my local beauty spot into an immersive 3D environment using Splatica and my Insta360 cameras ā and the whole process is surprisingly easy | TechRadar

Have you flown it yet? First thoughts?
āAll the old guys that fly drones love these fāing thingsā

No not yet, donāt get home from Work until Friday.
Iām on the fence with the 360 at the moment and may end up selling⦠Iāve not fell in love with this one just yet!
Much divided opinion on this one.
For current owners then,
- Smitten
- Take it or leave it
- Not for me
- Undecided
I wasnāt able to give that a straight forward answer, earlier this morning.
Yesterday evening, after a very short maiden test flight, (<5 minutes), sending it up from the garden at home with the RC2, I wasnāt blown away it.
That reason being, was the awkwardness of viewing and sharing the 360 photos and videos.
I laid in bed at one point during the night, wondering āif Iād just wasted the best part of Ā£1k on a new toyā (RC2 Flymore Combo, Care Refresh & a couple of SD cards) that didnāt do anything for me.
So today, whilst the sun was out, I went out with the A360, to test that theory.
Whilst the A360 & RC2 combo will take a little getting used to, I can see how I might use that for things in future. I gave the quick shots a go, yes even the rocket and dronie, took a few photos, etcā¦
When I connected the A360 to my Goggles 3 & MC3 and sent it for more an immersive flight, I absolutely loved it, especially the focus track.
Whilst it doesnāt have the power or agility of the Avata 2 and itās not a patch on a 5", itās a completely different experience. I imagine DJI didnāt design this or aim this at FPV Freestyle or Racing drone owners.
I had loads of fun playing with the focus track around a tree and shot a few large gaps, whilst playing with the easy acro settings.
Now all three batteries are flat, itās time to download the SD card and see what I can put together using DJI Studio. Iāll share those later.
As for my earlier wobble, did I waste my money, I can now confidently say āNo Iāve notā
Yes, it does appear to be a drone in itās own category, along with the antigravity A1.
And that probably means it will take a little while for its capabilities to be realised.
You make some good points, and itās interesting that you started with camera drones and then went solely to FPV.
The other big test is going to be with the editing. Good luck ![]()
Iām with you Jay
My toss up as an upgrade to my last ācamera droneā was this or a Mini Pro.
The lack of support for the Goggles or MC on the 5 Pro sort of sealed it for me.
I have a love hate releationship with editing, this will rekindle it I think.
And when batteries are recharging I can blast the Avata 2 or Potato around
Firmly in the like column .
I tried it last weekend with the goggles and motion controller and it is a no for me, but I love it on the rc better. Eric @jcbdriver loves flying it with the goggles and motion controller ![]()
I like the 360 on it but for FPV I will stay with my quads.
If any of you own a Neo 2 and an Avata 2 plus N3 goggles/googles 3 and motion controller 3, how differently does the Avata 2 fly compared to the Neo 2 with this FPV set up?
Iām not so impressed with the FPV aspect of the A360 compared to my Neo 2 when flying with the motion controller. So Iām considering picking up an Avata 2.
But Iād like to know what sort of difference Iāll see to flying the Neo 2? I did find the step up from the original Neo to the Neo 2 to be noticeable flying FPV. In Sports mode it was faster and I wonder if that puts it closer to the FPV (with motion controller) experience of the Avata 2ā¦.or if thereās still a big gap?
Its not an FPV drone.
The Avatar 2 is different gravy, but be honest unless couple it with the dedicated FPV controller and fly manual you will never get the speeds it deserves
TLDW; In the first 40 seconds he crashes his Avata 360 off-camera, blames it on the drone, and throws it in the bin. From 6:20 he flies his Avata 2 slowly through a train carriage. The end.
