Ps. I’ve had an email follow up. It seems I may have been unwittingly rude - Jasmine may not be a bot.
Though these days…
They are defiantly not bots and for me have been nothing but helpfully and the service is second to none
Which is strange as I filled in a customs exemption form (supplied by DJI via DHL) for the return of my Goggles that DJI fixed in NL last year
Yes, I had the same - had to print 3 copies to send with the drone.
I had to do the same customs form with mine too, seem to remember the wording being along the lines of warranty defective return, £0.00 value (or something).
Open up some dialogue with courier, have you got the original receipt from purchase? This will prove that you already paid the vat. This was a free replacement under care refresh insurance.
For general info: the saga seems to have been resolved with a little give and take on both sides.
I paid the courier the fifty-odd quid demanded by post-brexit bureaucracy. Then sent a copy of the invoice and receipt to DJI as per their email request.
Instead of me waiting “a month or more” for a refund, they have agreed to send me a coupon, or voucher, with which I can buy a spare battery. They will cover the shipping.
They’ve also said clearly that if/when this happens again, DJI considers itself liable; which is good to know.
Doesn’t solve the problem of having to pay VAT on your own property and then wait weeks if not months for a refund. But DJI is doing its best in the face of this ghastly bureaucracy.
Damn those brexiteers
