DJI Care Refresh, is it any good and do you get a refurbished drone

So on Tuesday this week, I was bored and needed to run a couple of Avata batteries down but seeing as it was chucking it down outside I thought I would do it in the front room. What could go wrong :face_with_spiral_eyes:

Just a little hover for a few minutes should be ok :grinning:

The first battery is in and Avata is hovering nicely, no problems :grinning:

Oh why not have a little fly around the front room, and then the kitchen :+1:

She flys very well indoors, a bit loud and you realise a vacuuming is needed :joy: but everything is ok

On to the 2nd battery

I wondered if I could get up the stairs and around the bedrooms :star_struck: yeap no problems just a little tricky coming back down :grinning:

Then into the dining room, and this is where the problems happened, somehow the drone got stuck under one of the chairs and started throwing a wobbler :scream:

Still not sure exactly what happened but when I pulled it out and flipped it upside down to kill the motors one of the props had lost a blade, which had gouged into the ducting and the motor was burning hot

Fitted a new prop, but on power up I get an ESC error :scream:

So this is where Care-Refresh comes in, this is the first time I’ve used it.

Fill in the application online, which takes a couple of minutes. Asks if I want to send the battery back but don’t if it’s not damaged so I don’t. With Care Refresh Express they send a replacement before you send yours back but they put a retainer on your card

The next day I got an email saying the replacement was on its way and a UPS label to send mine back

This morning a brand new drone arrives, sealed in a box with a brand new battery (worth £109) :grinning:
New charger, new spare props and a USB C-C cable

I’ve not even returned the knackered one yet :joy:

Is Care-Refresh worth it, oh yes it is :+1: 100%

Agreed and it also gives you a little more comfort when flying. I mean with care refresh someone may want to fly in Storm Eunice… oh wait… But seriously, the cost of it for having that security that you are covered. Even the safe people who will just fly around pretty close, it only takes something simple to lose the drone and it can be costly. Care refresh covers you. Those who saw the problem I had with care refresh ended up getting sorted (so I believe) when I extended and they decided to remove it. The dates they have told me seem to match up now but if you are not sure about care refresh, just take a think about how much an accident would cost you.

When I’ve sent a drone back, be it the mini 3 or the Avata, I’ve stated that the battery is faulty. I’ve never sent any batteries back but always received a new one with my drone👍.

As we said at one of the meets Wayne, there’s something still wrong with the Avata, even after all the updates.

I’m putting mine up fit sale this weekend, I don’t really use it anymore. I think the novelty has worn off :person_shrugging:

Do I think care refresh is worth it… Damn right.

Just sent my Air 3 back for repair, there is a smudge on videos on the 3x lens, I have care refresh but have used the standard service as it has been there from new, they only requested the Air and gimbal cover, will see how long it takes, it looks like someone touched the sensor while putting it together, I did check the lens and filters, shame was enjoying the local flights, no doubt will return when it’s heshing it down

You can see the darker area on the left, funny thing if you zoom in on the 3X lens it disappears

Normally very quick. I’ve had a drone back within 3 days of posting👍

Lost my Mini 2 on a cliff face the other day, @OzoneVibe aka Dave tried to find it without success so Care Refresh claim and £156.20p later a new one and battery is on its way. Still way cheaper than a 2nd hand one so yes , Care Refresh is worth it even if you factor in the initial cost.
