H does anyone know the answer to this? dji fly app keeps crashing. I have uninstalled, cleared cache, updated drone, app, remote. This is on an ipad worked fine 3 weeks ago but now it connects and when I tap “go fly” it shuts down the app?
Mavic Air 2
RC N1
Hope someone can advise, thanks Phil
Remove the Fly App ( uninstall it - delete the cache etc ) but reboot the iPad to clear out the memory too
If that does not work then I suggest you do a full reset of the iPad and reload everything as something somewhere has got a bit corrupt - check for iOS updates too.
Generally iOS app’s are quite stable
How old is the iPad and have you just updated DLY?
Thanks for the response, I have carried out all suggested and still no joy, tried on my Iphone and its okay? Thanks Phil
Hi and thanks for the reply, iPad is 5th gen version 16.7.16.
Found it works on iphone but not on pad weird?
Philip @PGJ does the app still crash if the drone controller is not connected?
Also, something else to try.
Force-close the app, turn off WiFi and mobile data if you have a SIM card in the iPad, then launch the Fly app so it has no internet connection at all. Does it still crash then?
Have you re-downloaded the app from the DJI website?
Its in the Apple store, they actually sort of abide by the rules on there, unlike andoird
Thanks, it still crashes with no wi-fi no drone rc attached thanks
Hi ,I have tried to download from dji but can only do this through the app store, cheers phil
Yet, when my old android phone kept crashing dji fly (because I hadn’t used the app for a while), a simple uninstall and download from dji website sorted it. ![]()
Ask yourself why their software isn’t on Google Play ?
Because they steal all your data and cannot pass Google security guidelines.
But Apple are fine with that?
The iOS version does not do it, its well documented.
It may be related to the capabilities of your iPad.
The 5th Generation is now 9yrs of age. (Released in 2017)
DJI recommends the minimum spec requirement for an iOS device is an iPhone 11 or newer.
The iPhone 11 was released in Sept 2019 and iPhones tend to be more powerful than the standard iPad released during the same year.
Would that still be 32bit only? I have a couple of old Android phones where the current (64bit) app crashes because of this.
Just checked the official Apple specs and it’s a 64 bit device.
The last supported operating system is iPadOS 16 and we’re now of iPadOS 26 (which is equal to iPadOS 19, if they hadn’t changed the version numbering to the year)
Hi apologies if this sounds thick, but does that me its the ipad? it was working a few weeks ago so could it have been an update?
I am not that tech savvy so please forgive me! thanks Phil
It may be the iPad, but I’m no IT professional.
DJI don’t publish specs for iPads to run their Fly App.
Do you have access to a newer iPad or anyone that has one? It may be worth trying it on that, before writing off your current one.
It could have been the latest update, because they have included additional elements for the Avata 360, which will be more system hungry, to handle the larger 360 files
My 6th Gen iPAD (iOS 17.7.11) was working perfectly fine too a couple of weeks ago, until the DJI Fly app was updated. Now it crashes each and every time we attempt to fly. I’m relegated to using my Droid phones/tablets now until the problem is fixed (hopefully) which is a bit of a bummer.
P.S. I have yet to try our 9th & 11th Gen iPAD’s but “may” give them a go at some point just to see if there’s a different outcome.
