Today I discovered two things. 1) There is a speed above which it makes no sense to tow a camera. 2) There is an altitude below which it makes no sense to tow a camera.
Why were you towing it instead of fixing it in place on the drone?
I wanted some distance so the drone wouldn’t be distorted by the 360 stitching. I think the rig worked ok (20" x 1/4" rigid carbonfibre tube with arborist throwline threaded through…) The issue was the unsurprising behaviour of the rig at 80mph, and flying too close to the ground…
The positive upshot was I had the rig tied to the battery connector, so when the camera snagged the ground it disconnected the battery - so the drone just suffered gravity damage, rather than powering into the ground…

Yeah! But a £400 camera you don’t have fun with costs more than one you do…!
You’re just showing off!
