Will or are they compatible with the O3 Air Unit?
I’ve read the specs but there no mention if they are or not
No just the O4
Well, here’s my two pence worth… Yep, I was sent these 2 weeks before release but as ever, no bias; I go through what they took off in order to drop the price, but crucially, made sure what they kept works well.
main points: embedded screen size is way larger, so completely different (and cheaper) lens system. No ‘real view’ to see what’s going on in front of you (ie you have to lift the goggles up to see what’s happening). No touch pad. No wireless view sharing.
But, you still have same resolution screen as the Goggles 3, and only very slightly slower latency. The virtual cursor for menu navigation and selection is cool, and they’re really comfortable to wear. So for the money, they’re impressive imho…
Thanks @ianinlondon once again for taking time to add more from your YouTube review here. I was waiting patiently and it was boom everyone released there reviews in seconds of eachother but yours is the one I watch as it’s unbiased even thou you get freebies now
Thanks once again as you point out things that I wanted to know more about.
Problem I have is eyesight, I had a bottle smash and glass went into left eye in a riot, ever since I’ve suffered with block vision and distance deception.
I bought original goggles with Mavic pro and prescription glasses needed which had it own problems.
DJI FPV Goggles V2 same prescription glasses
Bought xreal air 2 pro and again prescription glasses but tbh I could view everything without frames interfering.
Goggles N3 no diopter adjustment is what I was hoping, understand the single lens, i heard prescription glasses can be used comfortably, as this cannot have fitted glasses, need to see more on comfort otherwise if I like to have the fun with as little hassle as possible it’s to pay extra for the goggles 3 with diopter adjustment.
Sorry to hear about the eyes; I think unless you have glasses like Dame Edna, you should be fine wearing the goggles N3 over your glasses.
Ultimately, I guess you could order them online and try them and return under distance selling rules if they don’t fit over your glasses…
Thanks Ian luckily I wear petite glasses for my big throbbing head
I will buy the N3 and controller and test with glasses I have few rimless glasses hopefully with legs as I break legs off to test with goggles see if more comfortable even did it with the xreal until I got proper fitted ones
Goggles N3 Teardown Live At 9pm
Live now…
Well done to GADC for supporting Ian as I enjoy his teardowns.
If you do awards please give Ian the best one liner
Allows me to tell DJI to go and fuck yourself
Another respect I have to give to IAN his in-depth review to his sponsor which shows his appreciation.
Some takeaways from the teardown that may not have come out overall in the video as some of this IV had to do digging later.
N3 overall very well designed.
Optical module is sealed
Main PCB is mounted on the font with a new cooling design.
Goggles have 4 Ocusync Antennas, and can transmit from 2 of any of the 4 and receive from all 4.
The rwo external antennas are 1.5db linear polarised Omni and the two internals are linear diagonal antennas biased forward with 3db gain. The radiation pattern on the patches is pretty poor but it’s better than an Omni.
Antenna connectors are not UFL and are one of the smaller IPX connectors like you often find in Laptops for their WiFi adapters.
Now where it gets extremely interesting is off camera I did the full PCB teardown for the Wiki and I found two rather interesting things.
The main RF chipset was expected to be the new S2 that we have seen in O4 devices before however this one looks different. I’m not going to say it’s not the S2 but it appears smaller and it’s no labeled S2 or any other DJI typical numbering. It’s got its own PN that leads nowhere. I’m still doing checks but I believe the silicon die is actually the same shape and size.
It appears the packaging is smaller though.
This is possibly a revision of the same chipset but DJI have managed get the size down a bit. Possiblly smaller BGA pitch. This could explain how DJI have been able to make O4 Air unit a single board possible.
Further to this the E3T has some additional letters attached now and it’d E3TPB, again likely a revision.
I’m speaking with some guys on trying to understand what’s going under the hood around this.
Overall a great teardown and I was to deeply thanks Grey Arrows and the team for their amazing support.
Ha ha seen that
Do I get a set of goggles for getting GADC advertised on another live vid
Hi,
I have purchased the new cheap DJI Goggles N3 £220… I have had the Goggles 3 in the past and sold them with a drone at the time…
So Ive bought the Avata 2 with Battery, and the DJI motion Controller 3…
I also bought the litlle DJI NEO ( cracking little drine in my opinion especially for family videos and pics)
So to complement them I purchased the DJI Goggles N3…I am a glasses wearer and can honestly say .I prefer them them to the Goggles 3 which is over twice the price ! IF you wear specs especially and havent got Goggles? I recomm3nd the N3 …Not advertising them AND m6 personal opinion .
