Won’t the Mini 4 Pro just become a sub-250g legacy drone… …with all the same restrictions as it currently has?
Rereading the CAA stuff I think you’re correct. I suspect the “gear acquisition centre” in my brain is trying to panic me into a new purchase ![]()
Heliguy says 1 is UK0 and X1 UK1 ![]()
Presumably the UK1 would be if you bought the version with the bigger battery?
Not sure they’d class mark differently because of a battery bundled with it. May as well mark them all the X1 UK1 because the rules are the same as 0.
Either way, my purchase would be the UK1 combo plus.
Me wantee Lito 1!
Improvements over my current Mini 4K:-
.Obstacle avoidance
.Active tracking
.Slo-mo video ability
Plenty other improvements as well, but those are the game-changers from my POV! Very tempting…
From my experience with my mini 4 pro, don’t get your hopes up too much for active track or obstacle avoidance but don’t let that put you off!
I stand corrected, from the DJI store:
Combos that hold the EASA C0 and UK0 certifications include the DJI Lito X1, DJI Lito X1 Fly More Combo (DJI RC-N3), and DJI Lito X1 Fly More Combo (DJI RC 2). In the EU and UK, aircraft from these combos do not support the use of the Intelligent Flight Battery Plus or the Propeller Guard.
The combo that holds the EASA C1 and UK1 certifications is the DJI Lito X1 Fly More Combo Plus (DJI RC 2). In the EU and UK, the aircraft from this combo supports the use of the Intelligent Flight Battery Plus or the Propeller Guard, but does not support using both simultaneously.
Ordered a new laptop yesterday, so no new drones ‘til that’s paid off!* To be fair, the 4K is flying, and filming, beautifully, but as I know from my railway modelling, the number of locomotives/drones I need is always ‘present number +1; only one more, honest’… I could mount a better case for the laptop (Macbook Neo 13”, if anyone’s interested) because my Mac Mini is 15 years old and won’t run current software. Working perfectly, though!
*Yeah, right, and how do you think that’s gonna work for you, Johnster…
I am slightly confused by the very lukewarm recent the Lito and Lito X1 have received and also by the terminology used to describe them. My first thought, when considering an upgrade to my Air 2, was to buy a Mini 5 Pro. However, my A2 C of C expired in January and I’m not minded to renew it and I am concerned by the slightly confused certification of the Mini 5 Pro and its ability to be used with the freedoms that have previously been associated with the Mini series. I watched Ian’s initial review of the Lito X1 with interest and although it falls short of the 5 Pro in many areas, it does appear to perform at least as well as the Mini 4 Pro and at a more attractive price. Perhaps the biggest consideration is that it definitely weighs less than 250gms and is certified as such.
My main interest is photography rather than videos, so the use of filters is not my greatest consideration either. It does appear that this is a beginner aircraft, rather than one for someone who has some experience in flying, but it is the only sub 250gm drone available (with standard batteries) that falls into the necessary C0 classification .
Your thoughts.
Moved your post to the “everything” about the Lito thread since it helps keeps all the info and thoughts in one place. ![]()
I’m looking for a new drone, ideally I’d have an Air 3S class marked UK1 but that appears to be a lucky dip whether you get one or not. It’s also been out a while and maybe there’s a new version on it’s way.
The X1 with plus batteries is UK1 which can be flown the same as UK0, and can be from 2028 onwards when the rules change again (for C marked drones).
The X1 Plus combo is very tempting.
Not quite… ![]()
The Lito series both ship with UK0 class marks, and regardless of its actual weight the Mini 5 Pro is shipping with a C0 label.
So they can both be flown in the same conditions.
Don’t forget that you can run a few scenarios through Good 2 Go before taking the plunge:
Don’t think the choice of name helps, sounds like a cheap shitty toy in a blister pack you’d buy from one of those crappy stores on Blackpool seafront.![]()
The lack of interest from most people might be simply because the Lito range has been launched to replace the now end-of-life Mini 4K.
And hence there being little-to-no interest in it ![]()
I think the reaction is lukewarm because they’re not a “step up” for anyone who has a flagship drone, which accounts for most YouTubers etc.
As you say, the X1 is pretty comparable to the mini4pro which has a great camera. I’m not sure if the obstacle avoidance is as advanced on the X1 but obstacle avoidance is overhyped anyway. The only advantage to my needs for the mini4pro over the X1 is that it can shoot in HLG, and for some reason DJI are eschewing that on all of their recent drones and cameras. But if you’re using it for stills this doesn’t matter anyway.
Another option with a similar camera would be the Flip, which can be picked up cheaply just now albeit they’re slightly more cumbersome and noisy.
How that worked out for me is pretty much as expected. Trouble with the Mini 4K was all it took; ordered a Lito 1 yesterday. I expected more froth about this than there’s been, but it’s not a major game changer really, is it? What it is is an updated Mini 4K, but with features I like; slo-mo, hyperlapse, follow-me, cruise, and obstacle avoidance. Looks good value for the money!
Ferkin’ DPD say they tried to deliver; did they ferk! ‘Stuart’ dropped a slip through my letterbox and bolted, the’stard. Will collect from Post Office tomoz. Decent weather 4cast for a test-flight over the rec but it might take me a cupla weeks to get to grips with some of the features! The delivery ferkup could lose me a cupla days, though; if it’s not availble at the post office early enough and the battery needs charging on top of the setting up and calibrating (‘cal-ibration time, come on!) it might be pushing it to get a test flight in and it’s gonna be too windy over the weekend, which put is back to Monday, which is going to be the last before what looks like a showery week or so.
Bugger.
Stuart, I hope your bollocks go green at the ends and drop off…
I’m a bit surprised that nobody’s posted sny flying experience or comments yet, though. Watch this space! How do you say Lito, anyway, do you say ‘leeto’ (‘swhat I been doin’), or ‘lighto’, or ‘lit(to rhyme with sh*t)o’?
Ok, scrap that, DPD have updated to say it’s at the post off, and I’ve just gone over to collect it. Having a beer in my way home!
Sitrep time; I’ve opened the box and looked at it. First impressions is that it still looks like the result of a probably drunken night of ill-advised passion between a toad and a model of the Starship Enterprise, but one of the later, curvier, sexier Enterprises (Enterpri?). Sits higher off the ground at the front and lower at the back cf the Mini 4K, more ‘sit up & beg’.
Nice matt finish to the bodyshell, and one of my fears has been allayed; despite the extra electronics and longer arms/legs, it does not feel flimsy, which I thought it might if thinner plastic had to be used to keep the weight down. Feels like a quality job… There’s no back door for the battery, just an empty hole that the battery slots into, which confused me for a bit. Confusing Johnster is too easy to be big or clever!
There was enough charge in the battery & the rc to pair them, activate the care refresh, and check that the camera works. The gimbal has been redesigned and looks as if it is a tad more robust than the Mini 4K’s. Drone & rc currently being charged, and I’ll have a look at the sitrep in an hour, but I don’t think flying today will be adviseable if it’s going to be too much of a rush before sundown (20.45 and it takes about 20 mind to wwlk up the rec).
Gonna need to buy new filters for this bird, which I was hoping not to have to but that camera/gimbal redesign has snookered me.
