As mentioned earlier, this is called de minimis

Not worth worrying about.

We see it regularly in planning on property

Problem is it isn’t really defined.

Of course any court or authority can ignore it as well.

2% can be low or it can be high

Would you be happy if your gold necklace weighed 2% less than the invoice said?

But missing 2% of an expensive steak isn’t going to concern you either

Says who??

Do you weigh it after purchase or before the chef cooks it?

So how would you even know.

*uncooked weight.

Asda sent me semi skimmed milk last week, 2% fat instead of 4% fat and I was furious.

Refuse it and they give you it for free as ‘an essential item’

There’s a pretty simple reason - they couldn’t get the 5 under 250g so they’ve added a “± 4 g” caveat that wasn’t on the 4.

Indeed. The only time I can imagine we’ll see this be an actual issue is when somebody has been an absolute knuckle and it’s tagged on to the end of a lengthy list of offences to make a point.

Even then, “It’s sold as 249.9g and I had no reason to doubt that” might be enough of a defence… unless we all keep weighing the things and banging on about it.

Any prosecution would simply bring up this topic and say that everyone knew! :joy:

If I’d known that for the last two years. I order goats milk and often get sent semi skimmed instead, or the more infuriating no milk, as I can drink cows milk.

But back to the Mini 5, thinking of placing my order, I have enough money when I can change some foreign currency that was for a holiday last year that I will unlikely take in the foreseeable future.

Weighing in as an uninvolved bystander here…

The first thing that beggars belief is that DJI think they can (have been allowed to?) get away with this bullshit (as posted by @CheerPhil)

Surely, a maximum take off mass should be exactly that? If your product is 249.9g ±4g then its MTOM should be stated as 253.9g. This absolutely reeks of DJI trying to circumvent the classification requirements. “My drone identifies as a sub-250g…”

I know everyone rolls their eyes when this guy crops up bit this is only a 12 minute video and I think covers all the salient points quite succinctly (for a change). The analogy to speed limits (will you get prosecuted for driving at 72mph?) is quite an interesting viewpoint.

Finally, on the subject of ‘weightgate’ and ‘dieselgate’.

Personally, I’ll be sticking to not flying my OG Mavic Mini and seeing what shakes out come January. When I’ll probably continue to not fly camera drones.

If anyone want’s me, I’ll be putting the twenty-odd batteries I charged up for BM25.2 and didn’t use back to storage. Should probably have done that a while ago. :face_with_hand_over_mouth:

It’s also worth remembering the weight stops being an issue in just 14 weeks time when all the regulations change again and you can fly it pretty much wherever you like under the new transition period rules

Worry not, people. Fourteen weeks isn’t far away

Honestly, so confusing re batteries. Everyone ALWAYS talks about the Mini 3 Pro, and not the Mini 3. I have a 3, not a 3 pro. Will these batteries work in the 5? I am very likely going to end up getting one at some point but probably not till next year.

I believe that the non pro 3 batteries are exactly the same as the standard 3 so should therefore work, as mentioned about the mini 4 & 3 batteries up above …

Is there a thread or external site that explains the rules, as they’re expected to be, from Jan 26 onwards in a short & precise way? Something like the dronecode site?

Caveat ‘proposed’

@Crackerjack Chris beat me to it with the link to that video

Just return the drone if you are that worried about it, it won’t bother me

Is the two-way charging hub any different? I’ve read that it will charge two batteries at the same time when they have both reached the same level. But can’t find if this is something to do with a different charger or enabled through battery firmware?

Thank you and I can see why things will get clearer in Jan. Think I’ll stick with my 247gm to 249gm depending on battery and including Op ID and battery labels Atom 2 until I need a 5 Pro.
