Drone Capture Quality

I was taking some drone footage last week along a river, and due to the length of the stretch of river, I wanted to do it in 2-3 sections. The first section went fine, and I was pleased with the quality, but during filming of the second part, I was navigating an area with lots of trees; unfortunately a member of the public came along and started to talk to me, and I got distracted. I had left the drone hovering, because I was in a gap in the trees, and wanted to avoid crashing. However, on resuming the video, I got my orientation mixed up, and reversed into a tree and crashed.
The drone was fine, it didn’t appear to be damaged at all, but on reviewing the footage captured after the crash, it doesn’t appear to be just as sharp. Now not that I’m aware, but when the crash happened, I’m wondering if the mode was inadvertently changed, and if changing the drone mode from Normal to Cine, or vice versa would change the quality of footage?

Shouldn’t change the quality

Any airdata to share?

Sorry Chris, I’ve created my Airdata account, but havent yet worked out how to upload my data.

@UladhLad, this might help

If you’re not familiar with Airdata it’s an independent platform that allows you to aggregate your flight records and it also allows you to share logs with other people.

Here’s a guide on how to upload your flight logs to their web site / app:

Setting up Direct DJI Sync

Once your logs are visible in Airdata you can use this guide to share the log(s) in question:

Once you’ve created the share on the Airdata web site simply reply here and paste the URL, someone will then take a closer look for you.

Yep, I’ve looked up the hlep files on the site, I’m just working through getting it uploaded

Right, I’ve followed the instruction to the letter, but when I go to logs, there are ‘no flights found’ Does it take a while to sync, even though I forced synchronisation?

Usually only a couple of minutes at most but it would say (top left hand corner) ‘processing xx flights’

I’ve noticed something rather peculiar. I don’t normally use the app on my phone for anything; I tend to use the app on the controller. Here’s the odd thing - on the app on my controller I can see the flight overview - number of hours, distance travelled, number of flights. But when I log out and log into the app on my phone, all of these figures are sitting at zero - which might explain why nothing is updated even yet to my Airdata account.
I’ll give it 24 hours and if nothing is still showing, I’m going have to go through everything again to figure out what is going on

Make sure you have this toggled on -

Yep, I did everything as the guide said. It’s bizarre, that the same account is on both the controller and the phone app, but the two don’t display the same material for the same account. I can’t get my head around it at all :face_with_spiral_eyes:

Have you tried logging out on your phone & logging back in, had similar issue with my rc pro, also if memory serves if you log out of one it logs you out of both if I remember rightly .

Edit :

Yes my rc don’t unless it’s connected to WiFi then it drags the data down, then i usually disconnect from WiFi once all logs are on RC, I only use my app on my phone for syncing Airdata .

I think I know what has happened. I had to update my email address yesterday, because I no longer had access to the old one. Whilst it was a new drone that only I have owned, by deleting the old email address and creating a new one, it has wiped all of the flight data from the ‘previous owner’. I did a short test flight earlier around the house, and it has recorded that flight info, but not the flight info from the videos of the river.
Oh well, I may just go back and do them again, and I can keep an eye on the video quality.

Watching the videos again, the first one, pre-crash looked like 4K, but the one post-crash was more like 1080p, or 2K quality. Certainly a lot softer. I’ll try it again, and see how it goes. It’s all a learning curve

Check the exif in the videos it will give you lots of info

Commenting on your original question about video quality, I crashed my mini 4 pro onto a moving boat. The drone appeared fine but about a week later when I was filming a church the first minute or two of the video appeared out of focus, the seemed to autofocus back in, and I had no further trouble.

Maybe the crash upset something in the autofocus until it rights itself.

i dont have too much luck with the data auto syncing, i find it easier to manually upload the files.

You’re not alone there Zipco. I followed the instructions to the letter, and it STILL isn’t showing any flight data. I’ve actually given up trying

Entirely possible. In the 6 months of owning the drone this has been the worst crash so far, and whilst it wasn’t a bad crash, perhaps as you say, it knocked things out of kilter, and it’ll reset itself. The second video is so poor quality, I’m likely to have to go back and take it again. I’ve uploaded screengrabs from Video 1, pre-crash, and Video 3 post-crash, and to me Video 3 is nowhere near as sharp as Video 1.

persevere with manual upload. I think it was on here that i found the instructions to do it manually
