Drone Landing Pad and should I have a drone LOL?
Bought a landing pad from Amazon and had to watch a YouTube video to learn how to fold it!!! ![]()
Wow I thought 142 posts on a thread for landing pad what the hell ![]()
Iām definitely not going ins and outs of you say invert I say flip ![]()
Many times Iāve said I flip my drone on forums when hand landing, I donāt do it when itās fighting with me which is caused by when grabbing and pulling down your hand and flipping it the motors go mad, I assumed itās fighting GPS and internal sensors at the position the drone became stable on your hand, I let it land and without lowering it I flip and it peacefully shuts down and no exhaustion on the motors.
Itās correct what is said people say stress and break after a while but Iāve never seen or looked at proof of this I just never argued it I just done it as to me I never thought I was putting to much stress to cause long term damage, I have put more stress on the motors in sports mode from taking off at full speed then anything else.
Maybe this answer some questions when saying there fighting with the drone because of downward sensors itās not using controller stick correctly itās grabbing and slight pull down feels like fighting, flat steady hand pull controller stick down lands then grip flip all in same height.
If taking off from soft ground, not concrete, get a landing pad with loops which can have stout, plastic pegs driven through them to anchor the pad down in windy conditions.
Thereās a difference between electrics and electronics in terms of lifetime/degradation. All semiconductors follow a bathtub failure rate curve. They will fail eventually. Being stressed (voltage on supplies, currents, clock rate etc being higher than expected caused by some factor eg driving motors harder, operating temp being higher and so on) will reduce the lifetime (generally determined by statistical testing) through things like electromigration.
Electrowhat, now? Forget it, Iāll take your word for it, everything degrades, itās because the universe is expanding and the molecules are being pulled apart until stuff crumbles, thatās my excuse for my general decrepitude and Iām sticking to it!
Fair points to consider for sure,
I never did get around to googling the exact terms but going on what i remember from various studies, old physics experiments and buggering up a few bikes on dirt track a couple of decades ago, my concern wasnāt for electrical or electronic wear or degradation but the physical loads placed on the motors when doing the flip trick. Gimbal too i guess.
That old black and white clip of the physics experiement involving a spinning bicycle wheel hanging from a rope. Conservation of something and one of Newtons laws?
Technically, @TheJohnster, the reason why all things eventually fail is due to The Second Law of Thermodynamics.
The expanding universe doesnāt cause your stuff to fail apart. The bond lengths in the molecules that make up your stuff are not being stretched by universal expansion, as the electrostatic force is a great many times more powerful over these sort of tenths of a nanometre distances.
See, thats a sensible, cogent possibly even laudable reply.
I took it to mean his expanding gut causes his knees to fall apart. ![]()
Yes I did the same but got the refective version, I place my on an old 1" square ply board when in my garden then landing pad on top. I had one of the circle ones, but unless your a guru in oraghami I would stay clear . So the fold version shown earlier is similar to what I have and works well
Theyāre a law unto themselves ![]()
I think thats my exact one.
Due to my extreme numptiness i actually have 2 now plus one of those big circular jobbies with tent pegs. Some drones will blow all of them away without the pegs ![]()
I have an Air 3 S using the folding pad and itās been fine, Iām not sure about anything more powerful may blow it
Great for grandkids - can you hold this for me please ![]()
