Drone Scene - Minor Updates and Bug Fixes

We’ve just rolled out a hot fix to Drone Scene to support the changes DJI made regarding their GEO zones.

Drone Scene now displays the DJI map layer data in the same way as DJI display it in their app.

@kvetner and a couple of others highlighted an issue with the new prison airspace restriction map layer data a few days ago:

We’ve pushed out a minor update to Drone Scene this morning that simply removes any Airspace Restrictions that are only applicable to helicopters.

You can now view the new prison airspace restrictions without irrelevant things getting in the way:

D’oh!

It’s just been pointed out that we’ve now lost some other EGR zones that apply both to helicopters and drones.

Just rolled back to the previous version of Drone Scene again :man_facepalming:t2:

We’ll be in touch

Drone Scene has just been updated again :see_no_evil:

This time, we’ve left in the EGR zones and instead we’ve changed the drawing order of the layers and they get laid down on the map.

Prisons are now drawn “in front” of the EGRs, meaning you can now click on either.

In this example, I’ve clicked on the prison in the middle:

And in this example, I’ve clicked on the EGR which surrounds the prison:

This is especially useful in London where they are even more nicks under even more EGRs:

The EGRs are also stacking as well as we can make them, here’s EGR160:

And this is EGR159 which is now “on top” of #160:

TL:DR; Prison airspace restrictions are now clickable.

A minor update to Drone Scene today.

We’ve just added a new “Sporting Venues and Arenas” category

We’ve also moved a bunch of existing locations over to this new category too.

A minor update to Drone Scene this afternooon.

Performing certain actions on Drone Scene automatically cross-posts and announces your action(s) to the forum. For example, if you add a Parking marker, or a Take Off And Landing marker, or click the “I’ve flown here” button, etc.

Unfortunately, this can get a little noisy on the forum sometimes

We’ve just added some rate-limiting code in the background to help combat this

The forum will automatically be a little quieter now when people get a bit, umm… “enthusiastic”, with their Drone Scene activities

You’ll not notice any changes on Drone Scene, please carry on doing whatever it is you want to do!

PS. Sorry for all the noise on the forum earlier today!

We’ve rolled out some minor updates to Drone Scene today:

  1. Fixed a bug whereby it was not possible to measure the distances between specific location markers on the map
    – Thanks for the bug report @Kirky

  2. Fixed a bug whereby new Locations added to the map containing quotes in the title didn’t appear correctly on the forum

  3. Prevent members from expressing an interest in attending a Meetup which has been marked as Completed
    – For obvious reasons

  4. Removed Military Aerodrome Traffic Zone (MATZ) zones from Airspace Restrictions map layer
    – It’s not an airspace restriction, it’s just Class G airspace
