Testing a new version for Android
Ok, before anything else, let me give you the current status:
-
I was able to defeat the new anti-modding protections that DJI put in place. This was honestly the biggest problem and the one thing that could stop this whole thing. Thankfully, that’s all taken care of now so it will be possible to modify future versions of the Android app moving forward.
-
The new 1.14 versions, just like it happened on iOS, have received major changes to the way FCC is activated. This means on this new versions, FCC doesn’t get engaged but I’m not too concerned about that, I will figure it out, it will just take a few weeks of work, just like it did with iOS 1.14.2.
-
Since 1.14 realistically only brings Neo support and not much else, I put that on hold for now and I’m just focusing on fixing 1.13.10 for the recent Android Google Play issue (which affected both the FCC app and the official app).
I now have an updated version of 1.13.10 successfully starting on devices where the previous version does not but there appears to be another side-effect of the latest Google Play update, which also breaks the actual library my mod is using to inject itself into the Fly app. Like freaking everything else on Android, this is very device-dependent, so on some devices it will run normally and on others it will launch successfully but it will behave exactly like the official app (no FCC Mode Enabled message will appear).
This is being reported by tons of users of this library, so I expect the issue to be solved soon but, until then, I’d be interested to get a reading on what devices work and what devices don’t.
The test takes like 5 minutes, you only need to:
• uninstall any existing FCC/official versions
• download & install the test version from the link I’ll give you
• launch it, do the initial setup stuff and then restart the app
If you get drone-tweaks login window, then the test is successful and your phone is fully supported already. If you don’t… well, then it’s not and you need to wait realistically probably something like 1-2 weeks until the library issue will be addressed and I’ll be able to release a final version.
So, if you want to participate please send an email with these details (please respect these):
• subject: TEST NEW 1.13.10
• email body:
FCC order number: 12345 (replace with your own 5 digit username)
Device model: xxxxx
Android version: xxxxx
Official 1.13.10 launches successfully on this phone: YES/NO
You can get the official 1.13.10 for testing this from dtgavin DJI FLY APP – Google Drive
Once you send this email, by tonight I’ll reply with a download link and all the instructions you need to follow.
Thanks.
