From the pov of a pensioner who is not especially fit and who got a bit isolated and sedentary during lockdown, and who has anxiety issues, it’s all good news. My practice field is about a mile away, and my flying locations are often a good distance from the nearest bus stop, so fresh air and gentle exercise is par for the course. I also make a point of chatting to dog-walkers and fussing their dogs if the dog comes up to me, which is great therapy for my anxiety issues.
Then, you do some absolutely absorbing relaxing and satisfying flying and filming which prevents you from thinking about your problems and suchlike negativity, and I usually follow up with a pint somewhere handy and possibly a meal as well, or a visit to the chippy. I get home a little tired, but not excessively so, with a sense of having achieved something, happy, and relaxed; it is fair to say that it does me good on several levels. Then I get to review the footage with The Squeeze, who makes a fair fist of being interested and supportive; a good thing all round.
Never got any better over the weekend, it was not diabetes but apparently BPPV, blood pressure never went down much.
Yesterday as it was Paddy’s day docs was closed but pharmacy was open so after using a blood pressure machine all weekend it was continuously high so that did me no favours, but it was high and he said need to be seen asp again.
I was not going to A&E again so docs today he agreed it’s high and put me on tablet and got this 24 hour machine on.
When read @AlbionDrones Suzanne you going on about fitbit and blood pressure, so i never thought about watches so did a search and getting different opinions but it seems that they can give wrong readings and to get more accurate it needs syncing regularly, I’ve ordered a Samsung watch and hopefully it helps to know when I need to pace myself, I’ve not wore a watch since G10 days so I don’t know if I feel comfortable with one one. I thought of the rings which looks better but unsure if these would work.
Here’s hoping as these arm pumps are fuffing pain.
Thanks for sharing that hon, we also have a proper machine, and have checked the watch against the cuff machine, and they give the same readings - I wont be trusting the watch as an absolute, but as a general idea of what is going on I think they are pretty good…
I use an HR strap for swimming, cycling and hiking. The rate shown on my Garmin Fenix is usually the same as the strap I wear around my chest, which is very clever IMO. As for accuracy, as has been alluded to, it’s probably better for spotting a change in trend. Last year I had Achilles tendonitis, so was relatively inactive and I did notice my resting HR had risen slightly during that year.
As I’ve said, I am prone to anxiety attacks, but the drone does not provoke them, in fact very much the opposite so long as I have VLOS and full control. What does cause anxiety is potential Karenconfrontation, which has not happened to me yet fortunately; my vulnerablility to anxiety attacks on that score becomes lessed the longer I do not encounter such people. I am (I think) sensible and sensitive about where and how I fly, and avoid situation that I think might lead to confrontations.
Problem is that sooner or later I will almost certainly have a confrontative encounter wtih someone of that sort, and, while I am confident that I can deal with it at the time having read some very sensible and informative advice here, I would find such an encounter upsetting, and it might well take me some time to recover from it’s effects
