No wonder we as a community struggle when it’s clear the media don’t understand drones.

Maybe they stitched a “few” images together 
Here is a short article and video about flying drones in space for weather images: Can Drones Fly To Space?
The headline and follow up can seem to be bit confusing if you read it quickly. They say “Drone images have also shown the…” Not that the image below is taken from space by a drone. Especially because the image description then don’t mention that it is a satellite image, not a drone image.
