My point there being that time they applied FRZs over prisons to make it illegal to fly a drone over a prison to deliver drugs ![]()
They should make it illegal for prison officers to carry drugs in to prisons too. That’ll deter them eh?

Not wasting any more of ny time on you; one cannot educate pork
That made me chuckle, deep down.
I’m all for education, quite well educated, love learning new skills
. But I very much doubt you could educate me in anything worthy of me interest.
Now, about the waste of time. We have wasted too much of life with this. Yer can go back to your summising, not experience, replies what you dish out in every thread, oh and, let’s not forget the opinionated ignorance…
To be continued…
If we could get this thread back on the subject of drones being banned from flying near prisons from this point onwards please.
It’s a start…
It’s a bit like the click bait content creators, the drone is just a means to an end. One which sadly doesn’t reflect well on our hobby ![]()
The real issue here that needs to be tackled is organised crime gangs.
Same S@&£ different day ….
wow who’d have thunk making it illegal to fly within 500m of a prison boundary would have not stopped drone flights near prisons…
I guess on the plus side we now get a better class of criminal… those that get caught and those that don’t… and those that get caught still have a good chance of not being convicted, and even when they are the sentences are fairly light (on release at 40% of sentence… and you get to try again now you’ve seen the prison from inside and outside)
The ones who don’t get caught are those who are ordering the other ones who do get caught flying the drones.
Maybe the majority of the couriers have all ready seen the inside but I get what you’re saying tho, it’s just barmy like the idea of barking dogs to scare off the drones ……. I mean really ![]()

I was reading the article about strange ways, apparently they were burning holes through the windows (with what???)… and then able to get deliveries up to 7kg including meals delivered.
I’ve seen the McDonald’s adverts but that’s just taking the piss…
must be a big drone able to lift 7kg.
I’m not so sure I see the threat to national security but hey ho who am I and what do I know
Just stumbled on this reading some drone news regarding prisons, part of the article says below,
A staggering 136 suspected drone drops across 19 HMP establishments.
Cane, was sentenced to three years and eight months in prison and Groves, was sentenced to two years and six months in prison.
Cane was also given a Serious Crime Prevention Order (SCPO) to stop him owning or being in control of a drone for a period of five years, which will begin on his release from prison.
( you’d think the person with the SCPO ) would be ordered to ‘ Never ‘ owning or being in control of a drone again !
‘Anyone smuggling contraband into prisons will be caught & dealt with’ or whatever it says. Yeah, after 136 times (that you know about, officer) that they’ve done it without being caught. Does anyone think that Mr Cane is going to take any notice of his 5-year ban when he gets out; is he fuck, he’s going to fly stolen or illegally imported drones that are not linked to him, and he knows he’s going to get away with it!
I have yet to see an explanation of why the prison buildings can’t be netted over to prevent delivery of items by drone. The drone, as I understand it, carries the contraband on a length of cord so as to remain in visual of the pilot outside the wall, and hovers with the goods resting against the cell window. It would need therefore to be fairly fine netting held away from the wall of the building; the aim is to reliably and consistently prevent the contraband from reaching the window, not to bring the drone down which could cause injury to people or property on the ground. It would have to be maintained, it’ll be blown down or damaged in storms, and it’ll be a nuiscance.
Will it be more, or less, of a nuiscance than the more-or-less free availability of drugs, weapons, alcohol, mobile phones, ciggies, takeaway meals (but mostly drugs & weapons) to dangerous criminals who will have no hesitation in using them? The prison authorities and the police have not, so far as I know, decided yet but it seems pretty clear-cut to me!
Take a look at the CPS link on SCPO’s under the ’ Duration / Commencement ’ sections. That may explain it a bit better.
