I have just added this to the map of places to fly your drone at Drone Scene:
Dunraven Bay (Southerndown Beach), is a scenic beach in South Wales featuring a sandy shore, rich fossil-hunting rock pools, and historic walled gardens.
It’s a beautiful place to spend entire day there walking, enjoying the views, have a picnic and for any water activities.
Flying drone is a sheer joy as it reveals breathtaking views of the cliffs, which were formed in the various historic times and are so unique.
Walled gardens add a special character to the place.
There is a parking for which you will be asked to pay £5 in cash, ample parking further up the hills, toilets and accessible toilets were open and well maintained.
Snack Shop was closed so can’t comment on that. It’s about 20 minute walk towards Ogmore Beach where you will find nice place to eat called West Farm Southerndown Coastal Retreat.
Thoroughly enjoyed this location!

Love this part of the world - maybe 5miles from my front door and somewhere I’ve been flying and snapping (drone and DSLR) for >20yrs now.
One thing to be aware of though: don’t get too close to the cliffs along the “Glamorgan Heritage Coast”. They’re a well known and very real hazard, with rockfalls and landslips happening fairly regularly.
By “too close” I mean both at the top edge and at the base of the cliffs. Even locals get caught out. Tragically, a dog walker lost their life recently just around the corner at Llantwit after a cliff collapse.
Enjoy flying there though. It’s a stunning bit of coastline.

Thank you for the great comment and for pointing this out, I actually didn’t know, I tend to get close to the cliff edges due to my curiosity and equally I didn’t realize something can fall in your head either!
Yes, with the few precautions taken this is a lovely spot, we have recently discovered it despite living in Wales, as we mostly favoured Newton beach due to dogs being allowed all year round, but it has no facilities and it’s not as exciting as this side of the cliff!

As a (past) local I also came to say this. I myself have witnessed cliff falls along that coast a number of times so it happens a lot. Quite spectacular when it does happen - you get a loud crack that sounds like thunder and then it just falls. You can always spot a tourist along that coast - they are the ones sitting under the cliffs… However, your photos are fab!

Falling cliffs sound incredible, not sure I’d like to be there when it happens though! One man was sitting right under, looked like fishing, guess he was lucky!
They need to put up signs there, I didn’t see any when I was walking or maybe because my head was up in the sky watching my drone, haha
