Edinburgh

Was hoping for a sunset from Calton Hill in Edinburgh last night, but didn’t really happen, so hung about till the light levels fell for some long exposures.

The Vennel - Nikon Z6 - 30secs @ f14, 100iso.

Edinburgh skyline from Calton Hill - Nikon Z6 - 13secs @ f16, 100iso.

The Balmoral Hotel clock tower and Edinburgh Castle - Nikon Z6 - 30secs @ f16, 100iso.

Great shots John!

Love the first one with the light in the foreground, do you use any low level nd filters to reduce over exposure on the brighter aspects?

It’s an area I’m struggling with

Thanks Steve :+1: No I rarely use filters in my photography at all. I tend to adjust exposure in areas of an image by selecting them in PS on a separate layer. In the first image here I selected the area at the top of the steps and darkened it slightly.

Used to live up there.
From memory there is the Dungeons tour which was being guided by torch around a lot of dark rooms then there is Mary King’s Close which was a bit more interesting (https://www.realmarykingsclose.com/).
Did both of them.
Depends what you are after.
