The surface of the drone has a funny texture and I find the typical label maker stickers come up fairly easy.
So I bought a whole bunch of Sim Dongle covers from your favourite chinese shop, and played with the laser a bit. Can’t get the whole ID in one line but I doubt it matters.
very slick - nice that you can just replace that cover for this - not so easy on other drones but this is very cool and often I am having to replace the stickers on mine - lucky my label printer lets me save a load of pre-prints - makes it easy for that haha but yeah if the surface was smooth I might not have to do it so often.
If you never intend to sell the drone, you can put the whole thing in. This is a Bambu H2D 10 Watt laser so you COULD put the thing in there. I would probably tape up open vents and anything where dust could get in, but the whole process took like 7 seconds.
I am currently shopping for an old Mini 3 Pro as well so may use that as a ‘put the whole thing in’ guinnea pig.
Smaller just doesn’t come out good enough. Would be ok if there’d be a way to colour it in but as it is very porous (the plastic that is) - any colour wiped off stains it either way.
Maybe, just maybe, that’s why DJI made the 5 Pro a couple of grams heavier, so that folks can laser etch their flyer ID details upon it and it’ll then weigh <250kgs
