Folding props away

Is there a correct way to fold away propellers, or an order in which they should be folded? Asking because, after a flight this afternoon before the drizzle set in, examining the drone when I got home as I was going through the putting away ritual, I noticed two were nicked on the trailing edge and one had a split. All replaced now, but 3 out of 8 is worrying and this must be being caused by my mishandling, as the drone only landed once and that was very controlled and gentle… There were no sharp turns or sudden stops today either.

I use one of those plastic clamps that fit around the middle of the drone, and thought I was being careful enough putting the blades in position for it, but apparently not!

I have never, in 3 years nicked a prop when folding or unfolding. I’ve never used the prop holder on either of the drones, and I’m quite careless when packing away. Are you sure you haven’t hit something? That is the only time I have ever damaged a prop.

You’d have to be very unlucky I think to ruin the leading edges when folding away, maybe from a previous crash ? Here’s a short video anyway :slightly_smiling_face:

You’ve really got to go some to damage props when just folding them.
Are you hand catching or landing on the ground ?? Do you have a landing pad ??

Ditto 8 years of flying folding drones, and I am not precious on throwing things in bags

Too late, binned the damaged props in case I mistakenly used them again.

Probably from previous mishaps, and I landed a bit hard last time out, using Maven, which might explain the split. More care in future.

Share the airdata we might be able to help?

I’m with @mynameisjoe Darren, never used a prop holder and never nicked a prop on five different drones while folding,an I’ve been pretty rough sometimes when in an hurry😱.

Fold the drone up, tip the arse end up in the air, the back props fall down naturally, grab the drone and back props, turn the arse end down and the front props should fall into place. Doesn’t totally work 100pc all the time, but what I’m trying to say is, let them fall naturally into theur position, grab em and put it in its bag. Job done

Yeah, that works, despite my tiny girl-like hands! Bit of practice and I’ll be able to do it in the dark in the rain (which is how my dad taught me to change a wheel!).
