FPV simulator recommendations and DJI FPV alternative recommendations

,

While that’s a true account of my journey into FPV, I do think I had it particularly bad and I don’t think it took many others quite so long.

One big factor was the FrSky control system that my second quad came with. It was an absolute nightmare to set up, literally taking about 3 months for me to get working. These days, most “bind and fly” (BNF) quads will either be TBS Crossfire or ELRS, which are both infinitely easier to deal with.

To give the polar opposite experience, when my son (24yo) wanted to give it a go, we got him a Jumper T-Lite, an analog Darwin Baby Ape (both ELRS) and Fat Shark Recon v2 goggles for a total outlay of around £300.

He spent a couple of hours with the FPV.SkyDive simulator (free on Steam) and did this…

So don’t take the account of an old dog learning new tricks to be the norm.
