OK. I’m tired of searching for a viaduct that is still active (for vehicles) and has the right number of arches and hasn’t been Drone Scened already, so as I was always planning to do this one but got pipped to the post, here’s my Crimple Valley Viaduct entry.
This is the Barton Aqueduct, carrying the Bridgewater Canal across the Manchester Ship Canal. The only swing aqueduct anywhere in the UK. Photographed earlier this evening.
I’ve added to Drone Scene but within 1km of another entry so claiming no bonus points. Total 3 points.
Very difficult to get a vantage point of 12 arches in sequence let alone all 19 arches due to private land nearby and large trees. posted a video in the hope it puts it’s size into perspective.
Can I trouble the @Challenges_Committee for a clarification on this challenge? Would a Broad (as in the Norfolk Broads - not a gangster’s lady friend) be an acceptable subject?
The Broads (known for marketing purposes as The Broads National Park) is a network of mostly navigable rivers and lakes
We rely on your good sense, Whittingham Broad seems to have the characteristics of a lake and would be accepted. The River Wensum, for example, would not.
We are a fairly lazy bunch so don’t acknowledge every entry with a “Well done, we’ve added * points to your score.”
But we do check and add valid scores to our board, ready for posting on the leaderboard around 19:15 each evening.
If your entry has a from us (amongst the thousands of other likes it has attracted) then your entry has been counted and scored. Contrary to popular belief we do have other lives so the process may not be immediate, bear with us for a couple of hours before sending a private message!
@Challenges_Committee Just for clarification before I post, what is your definition of Intercity train for item 4? Are you referring to Intercity 125 trains only or an express train on an Intercity route? For example would a voyager 220 operated by cross country rail from Newcastle to Bristol qualify?
