I have just been out flying my newly acquired Mavic 2 pro and as I started it up it came up with the message “Gimbal overload, check gimbal protector is removed”. Which it was. I wiggled “very gently” around its movements as I’ve seen it do itself. And it cleared. After flying around for a bit I changed battery and it happened again, then again on second battery change. Each time clearing fairly quickly. I was flying from salt marsh so ground was uneven, but couldn’t see the camera impinging on the ground. As it cleared ok each time is it anything I should worry about.
@Seadog Perhaps try a gimbal calibration to see it it keeps doing it.
Is this the reason they sold it?
Does the gimbal move freely when the drone is powered off? Any sticky points?
Yes I was looking at gimbal calibration on the marsh however didn’t have my reading glasses with me so gave up trying to read the tiny print.
Yes seems fine can’t detect any sticky bits. I’m wondering if it was a lump sticking up through my take off mat that I couldn’t see from above.
What happens if you turn on the drone while it’s sitting on your kitchen worktop? Same error?
I’ll try in a bit, batteries on charge at moment.
Ok, batteries charged (well one anyway). Put on worksuface turned on and hey ho everything apparently normal. Picked up and moved drone around and gimbal actions seem ok. We’ll see what it’s like on the next outing.
