Greetings from south Wales

Hi,
Following retirement I enjoyed several hobbies but due to medical limitations they now focus on photography based activities. A keen astro photographer I also enjoy landscapes, wildlife and sites of interest. Now a drone owner I hope to add aerial photography to my portfolio. Having obtained the requisite pilot and operator registration, I added the A2 CofC and now endeavour to improve my flying and camera handling abilities.
I hope this forum and members can assist me in navigating this exciting new hobby.

Flying a drone is great fun but sometimes you feel the need to have a purpose for doing so and the Challenges category provides some great reasons for you to fly.

There are regular challenges which are open to all, that attract members of all abilities. Support, advice and constructive criticism is freely available; still photography, video and the techniques for editing both are involved in the challenges. Suggestions, for subjects or for complete challenges, are always welcome - take a look in the Challenges category for more information.

We’re a well established club with many knowledgeable members so it’s very likely that any issues you come across will have been discussed here before. Our discussion forum has very powerful search features which should help you find what you need but if you get stuck you can post a new question in the Questions & Answers category.

And finally, if you are new to drones and wondering what it’s all about, have a look at Resources for a beginner.

Welcome once again!

Thank you @Altitude Wales, @Monaco and @Raider for your kind welcomes. Just been out flying the Mavic and definitely need more practice with simultaneous application of the flight and camera controls. Earlier today I was hovering over a Heron at the edge of my pond and attempted auto track while filming. The bird symbol displayed and the camera followed the bird as it took off across the pond, sadly due to my piloting skills the bird in the frame was quickly lost, but the take off was captured and in hindsight should have switched to 120 frame speed, we are always learning.
