There’s a couple of areas I’d like to fly my drone that are between 500m to 1km inside this flight restriction zone (Ribble Link) has anyone applied for permission to fly within FRZ or is it a total block on drone flying?
You will need to complete an exemption request. This is the mail I received from the CAA last year when getting my exemption for Teesside.

Please complete an online application at:
Airspace Co-ordination and Obstacle Management (caa.co.uk)
Ensure that Airspace Restrictions (including exemption requests) is selected from the drop-down menu. Please note that a minimum of 28 days notice is requested for Exemption Requests. Further details, including notified closure periods for Airspace Regulation can be found at Airspace restrictions | Civil Aviation Authority
Thank you, I’ll give it a bash.
Probably worth reading these two threads … Requesting an exemption to fly within in a NFZ around a de-commissioned nuclear power station and Flying within multiple restricted areas
Not your specific location, but there may be useful and relevant info/pointers.
Had a gander at the second link, interesting! Not really interested in the plant and probably wouldn’t get permission to fly close anyway, I believe they produce fuel rods. Had a friend that worked there in their own dedicated police force that are armed with automatic weapons. But there are a couple of locations within that are of interest to me.
I remember their original name, the United Kingdom Atomic Energy Authority Constabulary.
A.K.A. The MOD Plod

No…The MOD Plod do not have civil land based nuclear sites on their remit. That’s the remit of the now Civil Nuclear Constabulary.
Bar places like AWE Burghfield, Aldermaston & RNAD Coulport.
You’re absolutely right. Flashed a pass to both over the years, got them mixed up in my irradiated noggin
