Hi mate, welcome from the Black Country
Many thanks for this advice. I will definitely be spending time on the SIM first then progressing.
Hi Sam, another fellow Doncasterian here.
I would recommend you go with something a couple generations old for your first drone, like the Mini 3 Pro - it’s both insanely capable and affordable. I still use two of them for commercial work.
The best maneuver that helps me are slow, controlled, and repetative figure 8’s. Also, manual orbits around both still and moving objects - throw in some gimble and change in elevation for icing on the cake.
GADC membership is useful for hobbyist public liability cover - though it explicitly excludes commercial. I won’t go naming competitors for fear of being smited.
Plenty of large open spaces to practice. Just don’t send it 120m up in the air and think that’s the goal. Most of my commercial shoots stay under 30m - some of my best shots have been a few feet off the ground.
Welcome to the club!
Thanks very much for your advice. I’ve been looking at older generation drones as a start point so that’s a reassuring piece of advice.
Many thanks again Sam
