Hello from Newcastle under Lyme

Hi everyone
My name is Lee and I’m from Newcastle under Lyme.

I’m a returning drone owner after originally owning the first DJI Phantom (which eventually flew away ) many years ago.

I’m usually a keen scuba diver and rock climber but after an accident at work and the resulting surgery I’ve been told I can’t dive or climb for 12 weeks so whilst I was off work recovering I sat on the computer looking for a new hobby.

I stumbled across the DJI Mavic 3, which being a keen photographer really caught my eye but after looking in to the regulations I settled (for now) on the mini 3 pro.

So far I’ve had about 6 flights with it and absolutely love the quality of the images and video and also love how stable the drone is in the air, I’m really impressed at how far drones have come on in recent years.

Anyway that’s enough rambling from me and I look forward to chatting to you all soon

Ps, is there a guide for how to upload images on the forum and display them in my post?

Many thanks

Lee

Hi Suzanne
I was watching your YouTube channel earlier!
I really like your videos and editing style.

I came over to Newcastle about 14 years ago from Cheshire and love being over here……although it’s not quite as nice as it used to be.

Ive driven past Biddulph a few times but never explored it as of yet properly….I have been to Biddulph Grange Gardens though which were lovely.

Thanks for the warm welcome and if your ever visiting over this way and fancy some flying feel free to give me a shout :slightly_smiling_face:

Hi Lee,

Thanks for the kind words on the channel / editing, still learning tbh, only had the drone since August, but practising as often as I can

My Mum used to work in the Grange when it was a hospital, so I used to get into the gardens and the house occassionally, have even been on top of the rooftop tower, amazing place…

Not massive amounts of stuff in Biddulph, the Grange is cool, and the Mette and Bailey castle on the bend after Grange road on the way to Congelton - although not sure if its still accessible… And Mow Cop is also cool…

Bosley Cloud and Knypersely Pool also good for a walk…

I work for a company based in oxford, and look after a remote team all over England, so travel a lot, I look after Cycle Mechanic Apprentices, I have one in Silverdale and another in Nantwhich, so am in the area once in a while and off weekends - so perhaps we could choose a location and arrange a meet up to fly somewhere local to you, or between us both?

Anyhows, good to talk…

Take care…
Suzanne

Hi Jim,
Thanks for the warm welcome.

If you ever fancy a flight / meet then feel free to give me a shout :+1:

Do you have a YouTube channel and / or any recommendations for anywhere local with something interesting or scenic to fly around?

So far I’ve done Westport lake which was nice and also Wedgwood monument on bignall hill which was decent to photograph.

Many thanks

Hi Lee , unfortunately I don’t have a utube channel, would not know how to do it lol’s. Good places to fly are Chatterley Whitfield Colliery near Chell, Mow Cop Castle ( but do not take off on site) Little Moreton Hall , Golden ( The Flame that never Dies) near Tunstall Cemetery and also Apedale valley LightRailway again try not to take off on the site?
There a few to get on with.

Many thanks Jim.
Mow cop is on the list :+1:
I did visit chatterley Whitfield in the hope of flying but as it was closed and I didn’t trust myself from taking off at the industrial estate (it was going to be my first flight) I decided to leave it for that day. I will definitely revisit though as it looks awesome

Thanks again Jim

Sorry Suzanne I totally forgot to reply to this.
Yeah we can definitely arrange something and maybe even post it in the Meet Up section and see if anyone else is interested in a flight and maybe a coffee afterwards :+1:
