Hello from Norfolk!

Hey,

Totally new drone owner based in Norfolk, have my flyer ID sorted and drone arrives tomorrow.

I’m a wedding photographer, will probably be using the drone for a bit of commercial work. But I’m waiting for the new rules to come in end of this year and then getting my A2 COFC rather than doing my PFCO now.

More than up for getting involved in any local meetups etc.

I’m a Northerner originally, been in Norwich for over 20 years now though! Live in NR3 near Mousehold and from looking at DJI Fly and NATS mousehold is flyable on the half near fountain park and away from Zaks.

Looking forward to getting it and getting it up in the air!

Yep, good call, I’m in Eaton, so the local Eaton Park is my flying ground, although I try to get out of the City to fly as much as I can.

Are there any local byelaws to be aware of at the coast? I assume the public beaches are fine as long as following CAA rules re distance from people and buildings. But private beaches such as Holkham out of bounds?

Use the Crown Estates rule at the Coast.
Fly anywhere between high water mark and low water mark.
Best to check local tide tables and time your flight/visit at low tide.
Except private beaches of course, and NT property.

Hi Andy, welcome. not from Norfolk, but just across the border in North Suffolk. Good luck with photographing the weddings, will give an extra dimension on the venues.

We quite like walking along the clifftops at Happisburgh, looking at the various maps, there’s only a very small section of the cliffs that are listed as SSSI so I assume I can fly past the lighthouse and then quite happily get some footage of us walking across the clifftops.

That might be my plan after a wide open space to just get used to controlling it haha

Happisburgh is good, be wary of flying the lighthouse, if you do, make sure you knock on the door of the people who live in the cottages at the base of the Lighthouse, and ask permission.
I had an altercation there a couple of years back with the guy who lives in one of them.

Morning @AndyDane! Figured I’d say hello… also recently joined & based in good’ole Naaarfolk!

Good call on the MA2

Welcome Tim to the Norfolk Branch of GADC ! .
Getting quite a few members now from “Narfuck” keep an eye open for Meet Ups that may happen.
And if any of you are members of FPVUK, don’t forget I can mentor/exam you for your C of C Certificate for FPVUK, membership is only £20 a year, and gives you £5 million PLI.

Recently took @scottydog ( Scott ) from Hevingham for his Cof C, which he passed with flying colours.
Hope to catch up soon with all the Local Lads.

Pain that they’ve pushed it back again for the changes to the legislation!

I would highly recommend anyone joining the FPVUK and taking the FPVUK CofC especially anyone new to flying , I learned a lot from it and also doing it gave me more confidence in my flying , I know it’s not the a2 CofC but personally being new to flying I know it’s helped me.
