Complete newbie - had a couple of lessons and buying kit in next few days. Will probably spend time getting my ageing brain around controller setup etc. and will then want to venture out around Basingstoke & Hampshire to get some practice in. So, prepare for daft questions and maybe a Saturday morning meet-up somewhere near a bacon roll & mug of tea to pick the local brains! Best regards, Richard.

Flying a drone is great fun but sometimes you feel the need to have a purpose for doing so and the Challenges category provides some great reasons for you to fly.
There are regular challenges which are open to all, that attract members of all abilities. Support, advice and constructive criticism is freely available; still photography, video and the techniques for editing both are involved in the challenges. Suggestions, for subjects or for complete challenges, are always welcome - take a look in the Challenges category for more information.
We’re a well established club with many knowledgeable members so it’s very likely that any issues you come across will have been discussed here before. Our discussion forum has very powerful search features which should help you find what you need but if you get stuck you can post a new question in the Questions & Answers category.
And finally, if you are new to drones and wondering what it’s all about, have a look at Resources for a beginner.

Hey Richard @richard.ryan06 Welcome to GADC You’ve made a great choice in joining this club as there is plenty of knowledge and experience within its membership.
Don’t worry about being new to the hobby…we were all new once! Feel free to ask any questions you have as there are bound to be forum members on here who are only too happy to help…myself included. Fortunately, I don’t live that far from you as I’m just down the road in Pompey 
This year the @group-southeast members have had several very successful Meet Ups and this should continue…but only if the weather plays nicely 
Have you bought your first drone yet?

I’ve bought a Mini 5 Pro with RC2 controller. Had a 1-hour lesson on one recently and seemed the one to start with. It gets delivered tomorrow! I am think I’ll be looking for a good YouTube video for setting the optimum things up on the controller and will then need to get out and fly it! As you say, we’re not that far from each other so if you’re up for a meet up after I’ve had a couple of outings in Basingstoke maybe we can set something up one weekend. Look out for my questions along the way!! Richard.

Hi Richard, one of our members @ianinlondon has a great YouTube channel with a lot of really useful videos especially.on settings so might be worth a look. I found his videos useful when i was starting out
Here is an example of one, its for the Mini 4 Pro but all the principles are the same though in the controllers
