Oh. Too late now. I went with BDF as I was previously a member of the BMFA.
On the insurance point… having looked at the FPVUK site their insurance is £5M whereas the BDF insurance is £25M and £35K personal accident cover. So although they cost more the insurance cover is significantly better so I am happy with BDF for this year. I’ll reassess next year though 
There’s a small cluster of us in the area now, might be worth organising something for people to get together.
