How do you fly in a straight line and yaw at the same time

Hi…

I would like to know how you can manually fly a Mini 2 in a relatively straight line and still change the camera direction (yaw).

I can do this to a limited extent with RTH with some planning. During RTH I can still Yaw and raise or lower my Mini 2 whilst maintaining a straight path… I would like to see a demonstration (YouTube?) of this if it exists… Haven’t seen one yet. My searches bring up the wrong type of videos.

Use litchi, create a mission and focus on a poi

… or leave it freehand.

Great for following a train, and the like, where you don’t want to focus on a single point.

You can even leave the mission speed at zero, and manually modify the speed as you fly it … and yaw at the same time in a controlled manner.

Often referred to as using Litchi in “zip wire mode” … which is quite descriptive.

Without Litchi … just loads of practice to get it close, but never as precise.

Can we use Litchi with the Mini 2.
I used it with an old Phantom 3 A and used to like it. If it can be used with Mini 2, is it Android friendly?

Or buy an Inspire and pilot it while your cameraman swings the gimbal independently of the aircraft direction

Or go the whole hog …

That’s a highly resistant 'copter.

but is this the same price as a Mini 2? LOL

I’d like to even try to Yaw but don’t know how to even start the practice… I’m a beginner with anything other that attempts at circling or in up down forward and back… :innocent:

You could try starting with this.

I don’t think my display device is on their approval list.

There are SO MANY Android devices, if they listed all of them it would be the biggest web page ever.
None of the three I’ve used over the years have been listed - and all worked fine.

Which device do you have?

Thanks @OzoneVibe

It’s a lowly Redmi Note Pro 5… Can’t even use the DJI Fly app past version .1.4.2 :boom::boom::boom::boom:

My Wileyfox Storm is old (4+ years) and lowly … but it’s fine for Litchi.

If you try as soon as you install and there’s an issue, you can get a refund … or a new device.

Now that’s very interesting!
No risk.

I think it is about £25. That right?

I’m guessing you are using it yourself most of the time?

On my old MP I use both Go4 and Litchi … depends what I’m doing.

Its a shame Litchi on the Mini 2 does not support Home or Course Lock as both modes are perfect for what you seek without the need for a preplanned flight

For a quick, onsite, solution, it’s only a few minutes to fly to each end of the line, and at the desired heights, to create waypoints and create a mission, then a minute to make any speed adjustments.

Upload and fly whilst the drone stays where it is.

But, yes, that is still “pre-planned” to a degree.

Done that a few times for steam train chasing.

A POI can be added as quickly, if needed - which it isn’t for chasing trains.

Use ‘Curse Lock’ :slightly_smiling_face:
Right stick up/down will fly you in a straight line and you can yaw to your hearts content.
also ‘Home Lock’ might suit as the straight line extends from your position
Cheers
