How many Iconic British Aircraft can you have in one photo
Went there in 2019, had a great time, loads to see
14 ?
Where is that? I want to go. I especially love the Vulcan, such majestic aircraft (shame about their purpose).
Duxford Air Museum
I’ve been quite a few times, I’m hoping to fly there from Chester when the weather is better.
That’s about right.
Newark Air Museum has a Vulcan, last time I went you were allowed to go in. The Avro Museum at Woodford has a nose section and a full Vulcan. Both are available for cockpit tours. If you do do check on the website as they are not open every day.
Are you a private pilot or do you mean getting a commercial flight?
Pivotal in 1982 for the Falklands
Epic book to read is Vulcan 607
Was thinking of their roll in carrying nuclear weapons.
True, at least it was not needed.
I had a PPL in the 70/80’s but I had to give it up when I got married, house, children. My friend is a retired ATPL (Airline Transport Pilot Licence) He has maintained his PPL so we go flying together every now and again.
I always wanted to fly, particularly gliders. Started with I think (it was a long time ago) Church Fenton gliding club. Had a few trial flights however my eyesight was not up to it. Some years later had a go at hang gliding (Was when it first arrived in this country, my mate had brought one over from USA), it proved my eyesight wasn’t up to it! At least no broken bones on “landing”.
So does the RAF museum at Hendon with all its ordnance on display below the aircraft.
@uav_hampshire is RAF Hendon museum still there, I went with my school back in late 70’s I think or possibly beginning of 80’s, was great from what I can remember
Still there I visited late last year.
The National Museum of Flight near Edinburgh also houses a Vulcan along with a Concorde. The Vulcan is not open but you can get aboard and have a look around the Concorde.
I remember the noise of the Vulcan as it performed a flyover at an event I was at in the early 80s, when I was a wee nipper.
Are you allowed to go in ?
