Ignore the dodgy airmanship

… but I’ve finally had a proper chance to grade some H265 d-log 10 bit and do the barrel correction. I’m also playing with music and titles.

Not a LUT in sight…

That’s one big flying spot you’ve got there.
Airmanship looks good to me … nice 90 if not more degree turn .

It’s one of my regular spots if I just want a quick flight. Tends to be quiet too

I thought you had the zoom Lee, does that shoot in 10 bit as well?

I may have sold that and got the M2P…

I gave up trying to edit the H.265 10bit shortly after getting M2P.

A lot of people were struggling with it and Resolve at the time had only began to support it.

Might need to revisit that. Seems you’ve cracked it.

So…

It’s system intensive as you need to do a correction on the barrel distortion in Fusion (unless you have the studio version) as well as the grade/edit. My system may not be the strongest but it dramatically increases render time. I need to do a similar flight in H264 to compare. I suspect H265 may not be worth the extra time. It seems to need a lot of resource as Fusion is RAM heavy and the render needs a good CPU.

If you’re on Windows you need to get a HEVC app from the store to make it work at all.

After that it’s exactly the same as before.

I’ve got studio and was using built in correction.

The issue I was getting (I think) was it always crashed during render when it got to a transition or other effect. Tried everything I could at the time before moving back to H.264.

The D-logM and HLG clips I got did look incredible.

Think I’ll try again tomorrow.

This I didn’t do…
