Indoor footage and GPS signals

It wouldn’t but flying FPV gives you a different perspective and that makes flying without GPS easier

Have a look at this from Suzanne @AlbionDrones using an Avata

That would be stupid trying to fly a drone indoors with no gps signal…
You need a virtual tour camera for all inside videos.

No really, its done all the time

I would disagree, have used my AVATA a few times, flying from outside to inside and around a workshop to get footage for work, never an issue…

I would advise you only try it with a ducted fan drone, like the AVATA or AVATA2 though as if it does hit something it usually bounces…

In the same way your satnav struggles, they need to see the sky (where the satellites live)

I have a mate who is a member here who used his Avata2 in his 1950s brick walled Semi and from his study in a bedroom he filmed the whole house. One take and didn’t hit a thing. Looked cool. The way to go IMHO. :hugs:

I’ve done it a few times with my Avata 2 and motion controller on normal mode, works like a charm, silky smooth with only 1 warning of GPS which doesn’t affect it.

So I ended making an irrational decision (as usual) I bought the Avata 2.

I just hope the GPs signal issue doesn’t happen with this drone as much as the mini 4.

The building I need to film is a church that’s been renovated internally to a luxury Airbnb.

Insta360 on a stick

As mentioned above on several occasions by several people, you won’t get a usable GPS signal indoors for any drone.

Watch Ken Dono (Originaldobo), he does this for his main job. Check this bit of his work:

And this is what he uses (might have upgraded by now)

Thank you @Hotrodspike these are great. Quite a lot of quality kit. Wish I could afford all of it :joy:

@PingSpike
I know it has been mentioned but there has also been mentions of people here able to do this and have done this such as @AlbionDrones

You miss the point being made …

… suggests an unreliable GPS signal “issue”.

Don’t expect any signal for there to be an “issue” … plan, and practice, flying without ANY GPS. Ergo - no “issue”.

Aside from the internal GPS issues, which others have advised on…

It’s a lot harder to smoothly line up going in through an open doorway than it is flying backwards out of the doorway and reversing the footage :+1:

But far harder to get any people to walk backwards in such a way it looks convincing when reversed.

Yes, and they weren’t using GPS either.

Yes of course I absolutely agree with you.

If anyone here has flown manual mode without GPS indoors please let me know. I have tried to find YouTube videos specific to this issue but couldn’t find it.

From what I understand manual mode without GPS the drone cannot hold itself in one place so I’m assuming it cannot hover or stop?

With this being such a big building with multiple floors there is more difficulty with getting any GPS. Some of the houses they do in YouTube have more chance of getting some signal at least.

I have taken other advice and looking to purchase the insta360 x4 but let’s see what we can do
