International Ayr Show, Festival of Flight 2025

Enjoyed a great couple of days this weekend at The International Ayr Show. Dusted off (quite literally) my DSLR and had a blast.

Not pin sharp, but still pleasantly surprised with the results. Especially given that the camera (a Canon EOS 650D) is over 12 years old and has barely seen the light of day for the last five or six.

“The Corkscrew”. They’ve been doing that (and very similar versions) for some years.

Thankfully not above my gaff they haven’t

Perfect angle and skies to show it off well.

And good photography, too, of course.

Thanks. Really didn’t expect many of them to be usable

The trick is to get there three hours early and stick your bum down in a camping chair on top of the hill

And arrange for slightly grey skies, and what might be thought lower light than ideal, to get the blue smoke showing well AND the landing lights.

Super blue skies and effing bright light kill those off.

A good couple of days and also some great shots. Well done. What display was your favourite?

Cracking photos. Just goes to show that no matter the age of a camera, it’s knowing how to use it that counts. Have 2 thumbs up here as I can only give one as a response to your post :+1::+1:

I’m going to have to be boring and say, of course, the Red Arrows both days. Absolutely stunning display. And the noise of the Spiftire! #ChefsKiss

But everything. Not a single bit of it was ‘filler’.

Really chuffed to have seen the full release of flares from the Hercules as well. Quite a sight  :+1:
