# Is there a genuine problem with the DJI 5 mini Pro propellas

I’ve done it, still got my fingers hurts more when it’s below freezing 🥶😱
It can be a bit daunting till you get the hang of it, just remember not to push your fingers up to high, they only need to be low enough just to catch the underside of the body easy once you get the hang of it :))

I have loads of spares from DJI but I am getting some after market ones tomorrow to compare.

Best advice is:-
1. Your drone costs £1000 and props cost peanuts - so buy DJI genuine ones
2. You get spare DJI props with the drone if bought as a package anyways
3. Buy a landing pad!!!
4. And before take off, make sure the props can spin freely
Replacing props on a DJI mini 5 pro should really be a ‘once in a blue moon situation’ !!!
If you’re changing them every few hours flight time, you’re not paying enough attention to take off, landing or packing away carefully

Thank you, spot on. I think a lot of these people are hurrying to get their drone up in the air. And not doing the fundamental safety checks before they fly. Unfolding it in a hurry or refolding it in a hurry. You see it in the videos. Anyway, thank you kindly for your advice. 😀😀

You’re welcome - a lot of people on this forum also fly stuff other than drones … any hobby where you’re flying anything remotely benefits from a bit of pre-flight focus👍

I was thinking this evening, as I was _carefully_ unfolding my Air 3s for the sunset, I wonder if they maybe unfold the arms a hurry and then habitually don’t bother extending the props out? Guilty of it myself on occasion and the motors don’t half get a good shoogle on as the props sort themselves out. Might explain some of the additional strain on those Mini 5 props which have reportedly failed.

Having just upgraded to the Mini 5 Pro, there’s definitely a technique for folding the props to ensure you don’t force them which could certainly weaken the prop joint and ultimately cause a failure. Interesting info & links on this post 👍🏽

Hi, just watched your video. You’ll put up fascinating. So now I’ve got take the props off and look underneath to see if any minute cracks. I suppose the best time to do this is to do a home in a control environment.. fascinating video makes you wonder doesn’t it. He did say maybe on the original batch of propellers for the 5 Pro there might have been. A problem but he did say they might have changed the plastic for the others. I wonder if they have or not . We’ve all done it looked on the outside of the pops. Check for cracks. To be honest I haven’t removed my prop yet look where he said to look . Just wondering did they rushed it out to get the headed a curve without testing it rigorously enough . Because American market will be drying up soon. Saying that I haven’t had any problems with my propellers. I’ve been very cautious unfold in them and refilled then. So I might have to take them off and look where he said to look and use a torch. It is a very, very good drone and I’m happy to have it . Of course they say there’s a right way and the wrong way to take your propellers off. Which I know you are. I need to find out the best way of doing it left. Lucy Lucy, right tighty tighty. 🤪😀 Thank you kindly putting this video up. On a more funnier note, I suppose I could always wrap it in bubble wrap. So if I do lose a propeller it should just bounce all over the place when it hits the ground. Now that’s an idea. 🤣🤣🤣

Same, I hand launch/catch my Mini 4, the Air 3s and the Mavic 4 pro. It also opens up a whole load more takeoff spots as I don’t need flat space to put a landing pad down.

Apart from the BM when I never did (due to being asked to use the take off mats), I always try to do hand launches and landings with my Mini 5 Pro. If you always do it it becomes easy and natural. Then like you say, it opens up new areas to fly, and you don’t need to worry about taking a landing mat with you.
