Hi everyone and seasons greetings

I contacted the spanish authorities in Nov 2024 regarding flying my mini 4 pro in northern Spain as I noticed in the Enaire app any flights close to people needed permission from the ministry of interior at least 5 days before the flight

The team provided the following information

We have some information in English available for foreign users on the AESA website:

- [How to fly a UAS in Spain | AESA-Agencia Estatal de Seguridad Aérea - Ministerio de Fomento (seguridadaerea.gob.es)](https://www.seguridadaerea.gob.es/es/ambitos/drones/how-to-fly-a-uas-in-spain)

You will be able to find the maps with airspace requirements to plan your flights at:

- [ENAIRE Drones](https://drones.enaire.es/?locale=en): you can check the areas in which there are prohibitions or restrictions on the flight of drones, as well as dangerous areas and other alerts.
- AIP link: [https://aip.enaire.es/AIP/AIP-en.html](https://aip.enaire.es/AIP/AIP-en.html)

Please, pay special attention to the information provided in this document, regarding requirements and limitations of geographical areas (in Spanish language only):

- [Guía sobre requisitos y limitaciones al vuelo de UAS en función del lugar de operación (Zonas Geográficas de UAS)](https://www.seguridadaerea.gob.es/sites/default/files/UAS-OPS-DT01_Ed.01_Zonas.geograficas.UAS.del.RDUAS.pdf) Ed.01

In case of urban flights, communication to the Ministry of Interior must be done, with at least 5 days in advance, as described in their website:

- [Ministry of Interior | Communication of Remotely Piloted Aircraft (UAS)](https://www.interior.gob.es/opencms/en/servicios-al-ciudadano/comunicacion-operaciones-de-aeronaves-pilotadas-por-control-remoto-uas/)

Training of the pilots must be done according to the category of the operation, [Open](https://www.seguridadaerea.gob.es/en/ambitos/drones/operaciones-con-uas-drones/operaciones-con-uas-drones---categoria-abierta-subcategorias-a1-a2-y-a3) or [Specific](https://www.seguridadaerea.gob.es/en/ambitos/drones/operaciones-con-uas-drones/operaciones-con-uas-drones---categoria-especifica) category:

- [UAS/Drones remote pilot training | AESA-Agencia Estatal de Seguridad Aérea - Ministerio de Fomento (seguridadaerea.gob.es)](https://www.seguridadaerea.gob.es/en/ambitos/drones/formacion-de-pilotos-a-distancia-uas-drones)

Please, find additional information in our website:

- [Drones | AESA-Agencia Estatal de Seguridad Aérea - Ministerio de Fomento (seguridadaerea.gob.es)](https://www.seguridadaerea.gob.es/en/ambitos/drones)

Trust this is found to be useful

I didnt fly in December and I am now more prepared for the information required

I’ve never flown in Spain but there are quite a few topics posts / thread’s on the forum worth a read,

Unfortunately

**A2 CofC is not recognised in the EU**

Sorry I could be of no more help hopefully someone will come along who may have flown there recent & can shed more light on the subject 👍

This maybe worth a read [Here](https://greyarro.ws/t/flying-your-drone-in-spain/25253/108)

I found this is the most recent I could find,

> According to AESA, drones are allowed in Spain, subject to AESA and EASA regulations. Read on for details.

Very useful info. Thanks @Gallego1

It really looks more bother than it’s worth taking a drone to Portugal or Spain.

Maybe if it’s work or a project …but just for a casual holiday …what a pain in the rectum

@Gallego1 Thanks for the info

Can I confirm your understanding for Spain please ?

If you have an EASA Operator Registration anywhere in the EU (for me I did it in Cyprus)
And a A1/A3 Cerificate (I did it in Luxembourg)
And 3rd Party Insurance
You can fly Open Category

IF you are not flying in a restricted zone which you can find using the ENAIRE App or [https://drones.enaire.es/](https://drones.enaire.es/). (only the grey areas)

The shaded areas will have details of who to contact and height limits etc.
There are some areas shown as UAS flying areas (drone symbols)
